One of the reasons Spode Christmas Tree is so collectible is because of the diverse range of items available for the table and throughout the home. New giftware is added every season, offering new chances to add to you collection…or someone else's.
In 1938, Harold Holdway, a young designer on Spode's England office, was asked to design a Christmas pattern for the American market. But he had never seen a decorated Christmas tree! In his first sketch the presents were suspended from the branches. "Wouldn't that cause them to droop?" he wondered. He amended his sketch when told the American tradition was to place gifts under the tree. Holdway used another Christmas icon on a most delightful way, adorning the top of the tree with jolly St. Nick. We find his design both unique and charming, as do Spode Christmas Tree lovers the world over.
Loved for its nostalgia and warm recollections of Christmases past, Christmas Tree has been an integral part of holiday celebrations since its introduction in 1938. Each season sees wonderful new introductions for collectors both old and new, and the extensive range now includes dinnerware, serveware and bakeware as well as accessories, giftware, glass barware, and wood items.
Since its humble beginnings over 65 years ago, Spode's world famous Christmas Tree has added a distinctive charm to every table. Celebrating traditions and created memories to cherish.
Spode Christmas Tree is made on a base of fine earthenware called Imperialware, and as such is exceptionally strong and hard to break. The easy care of Imperialware makes if ideal for the busy holiday season. It is also more resistant to chipping than standard earthenware.
Today's Christmas Tree is dishwasher and microware safe.* However, it should not be exposed to direct flame or placed on an electric burner. Only piece marked "Oven to Table" may be used in the oven.
For the best results in the dishwasher, load items so they do not touch each other and use a low temperature whenever possible. When emptying the dishwasher, handle the plates one at a time to avoid the risk of surface scratches.
With minimal care, your Spode Christmas Tree collection will be a festive addition to your family holiday traditions for years to come.
* Glassware is NOT microwavable or dishwasher safe and should ONLY be hand-washed.

I bought one for myself and several for gifts for next Christmas! The Spode Christmas Tree serving tray is beautiful and elegant. I love how the center porcelain square is surrounded by trays to hold crackers, chips, etc. I used mine for a cheese ball and it was great! The matching knife is such a nice compliment to the tray. The Spode Christmas Tree is such a part of the season for our family.
My trays arrived promptly and they were wrapped in additional sleeves and buried in styrofoam peanuts to protect them. They arrived in perfect condition!

When I ordered the Cereal Bowls, I thought I was getting a bowl big enough to actually eat cereal, soup, etc. out of. This was definitely not the case and the only use I forsee for these CEREAL bowls is for dessert/ice cream. They should be renamed Dessert Bowls.

I use it for a Christmas decoration and a spoonrest. It is high quality and pretty, but the tree is upside down from the way I'd like to place my spoons in it, so it's a little awkward to use.

The Martini glasses in my Christmas Tree Spode were perfectly described and just what I wanted. The glasses were a little bigger than I thought they would be.
The customer service response for a damaged item was fantastic. You guys really did a great job replacing my item quickly and more importantly you made it a very easy no-fuss process.

These are just the quintessential Christmas dishes...so pretty and classic. We use them for our everyday dishes through the whole month of December. They don't say "dishwasher safe" on the back, but I do dishwash mine with no problems. [...] thank you!

The Spode service is a known item - what HomeClick offered was a REALLY good price, and the items well packaged and shipped and delivered within such a short time it was earlier than expected!! Got this for a LOT less than in the stores - and just about as quickly!! Why stand in line and pay LOTS more money when you can do it on line, save bucks and have it in a few days!

Spode Christmas tree is a beautiful design andmade to stand the test of time. I use my napkins rings almost everyday, and yet they are perfect for a formal dinner with my family. I am going to use the for a table I am decorating at a Holiday luncheon. It will elegant yet comfortable. I love all my spode china. I will use them throughout the year. I am not going to hide them 10 months out of the year.
