Given that this is the only rack that fits this sink, it is functional and protects the sink bottom. But, after only 2 years, mine is horribly nicked and covered with rust.

This does protect the right half of the sink from damage. Without a rack the sink gets scratched and chipped easily. Kohler only makes a cutting board for the top of the left side leaving it unprotected from damage. I found an inexpensive stainless rack at [...] to cover the left side. Fits well along with the other one and although it does not have a hole for the drain it is necessary for protection. The [...] model has held up much better than the one from Kohler. I don't understand why Kohler only makes a rack for half of the sink.
