This is made of VERY thick stainless steel wire, unlike many other drainers that I've seen. It can be used as both a cooking prep tool, in rinsing foods or as a dish drainer. The plate rack is removable, so the basket can adapt to many uses. I like that it has rubber protectors on both it's legs and sides, so there is no way it can scratch the sink surface. The only criticism I have is that the sides of the basket are very shallow (not a plus when draining lots of dishes), but I knew that prior to buying it. This is certainly NOT the cheapest dish drainer on the market, but I think (hope) it will outlast the lower priced products by many years.
