We bought this disposal to replace a worn out insinkerator. We couldn't be happier with the performance and quietness of this disposal. You can absolutely put anything they recommend down this disposal. We were skeptical at first but after we had tried out everything that they recommended we were totally impressed. It handled everything that it said it could do with simplicity and ease. I would recommend this disposal for any new installation or any replacement installation. Since we had a existing disposal the replacement was a snap. Just remove the old disposal, disconnect the wiring, reconnect the wiring to the new disposal, and install the new disposal. This disposal should last us for many years to come and even though it is hiding under the sink, it looks great.

Purchased two; one for main sink and one for the island sink. Opted for the air actuator switches from a vendor (Insinkerator does not offer switches in 'oil rubbed bronze'; the avocado green of our time but nonetheless what is all over my kitchen)

Too bad it has to go under the sink, this is an attractive unit with its brushed stainless exterior. You might want to install a pilot light switch, it runs so quiet you will forget that it's on.
