I cook for a family of 4 almost everyday, and entertain a lot for large numbers. I love this pan - and know that I'm going to use it a lot. I like the wide bottom surface - meatballs can cook in one layer - and also the depth for a stew, chilli or pot of soup! Cleans up like a dream.

Service & Delivery comments:

Excellent service, super fast delivery considering we're at an Army Post Office address

Great pot. Tons of uses. It's wider than taller which I like. Great for soups, stews and best of all a great big pot of homemade tomato sauce or what the Italians like to say "tomato gravy."

Great pan

The best thing about this pan is the size, you just can't find a pan like this out there. If you have a large family like me and you love to cook then you should have this pan, I no longer have to worry about if I'm making too much to fit into the pan, It"s a great pan, and buying it here, it's a great price!
Like another person stated it does sometimes stick, they want you to always add food to the pan that is room temp. but I'm not comfortable doing that with meats, so sometimes things to stick, but this pan is still well worth it!

I used this the day I bought it and made a roast in the oven that turned out more tender than any I've ever made, and in a shorter time period. I cooked a 3lb roast about 3-4 hrs in the oven, the lid is not heavy enough to keep the liquid from evaporating so I did need to add some more when I added vegetables. The food was great. The clean up was easy except for there was some staining but it comes clean with bar keepers friend(as recommended for this item)

My wife just used this product this weekend for the first time to cook the ingredients for egg rolls. She had a pot she used for years for cooking large quantities, but the non-stick lining came off and we searched for a replacement. It took us quite a while before finding this one. It is actually larger and holds more than her old one, so we bought TWO when we found them. It is great for country cooks or others who cook large quantities at one time. To quote her, "I love my new pot!"

Cons:
Not dishwasher safe

Great product. Since I purchased this product I rarely use my stock pots for soups or stews. The large capacity allows for serving a medium size gathering or leaves you with plenty of leftovers. The only negative is you are not supposed to put it in the dishwasher. However it cleans up quickly and easily by hand.

I was pleasantly surprised at how evenly my recipes cooked in my new 10qt Calaphon Dutch Oven. It is tradition to cook "halupkies" from the old country Slovakia on New Year's Day. The meat was cooked through evenly with lots of moisture left. There was no sticking from the tomatoe juice. I put the pot directly into my refrigerator and my family ate leftovers from it all week. I really enjoyed being able to take the pot directly to the stove to warm up. Each time, the meal tasted as fresh as the first serving. When I went to wash the pot, the food debris came right out. I definitely plan to use this pot for all my potluck dinners at church as well as all my one meal dishes in the home.

My wife saw this set at a retail store but it was only available as a bonus to the entire set of pans. She really was only looking for a large, non-stick dutch oven and had no need to get a whole new set. When I found this set online I was thrilled. It is the only 10 Qt. one I could find and being made by Calphalon I knew it would be well made.

My wife was very excited when she got it because she had no idea that I cold find this one by itself so she figured that she would be getting a smaller 5 or 6 Qt. one like most that we found that were being offered separately. She made jambalya the first weekend and it worked perfectly. Even the extras that you get are high quality.

I recommend this set for anyone that is looking for a non-stick, large dutch oven. You will be hard pressed to find one as large as this one. The only down side is it is difficult to wash because it is so big.

Good general-purpose dutch oven
By RobVerified Purchaser from New Jersey on 12/6/2007
Pros:
Easy To Clean, Even heating, Lightweight, Non-Stick, Tight Lid seal
Cons:
Handle gets hot
Best Uses:

Great for braising, stews, and other dishes which need to start out on the stovetop and finish in the oven. Lighter weight than cast iron, but still fairly even heating. Non-stick surface is easy to clean, but makes it difficult to develop fond for making sauces.

Great Big Pot, not a Dutch Oven
By New2PanVerified Reviewer from San Jose, CA on 12/2/2007
Pros:
Durable, Even heating, Large capacity
Cons:
food can stick, Handle gets hot
Best Uses:
Large Kitchens, One-pot meals
Describe Yourself:
Avid Cook
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I use this pan as a large stove top pot. It is perfect for Bolognese, and I just made 8 qts of the stuff. For a large pan, it is light and easy to handle. Try that with a 10qt iron dutch oven! I consider the heat retention and light duty lid to disqualify it as a Dutch Oven, but I suppose it would work well in the oven. The handles do get hot, but I appreciate that they are double-riveted. Being infused anodization, food does stick if you are not careful, or do not preheat the oil, and the surface will discolor. None of this affects its cooking qualities, however.

Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase, and this has become my favorite monster pot. I deducted a star merely because food does stick, which can be an issue with its stated purpose, and it does not retain heat well enough to be called a Dutch Oven. Maybe that's nitpicking, but I love the pan and just sent one to my sister as a gift.

i used this 10qt dutch oven for making 6 cups of rice, large quantity of soup and this traditional south-Asian meat and lentil soup/stew (Haleem) and it turned out great. i was looking for something this large because we have large gatherings and need to prepare foods as for a buffet. for the price of [$], i recommend this. also calphalon has life time guarantee on its products. this product has a value of [$]. the spoon, towel, and pot holders are also of highest quality.
