I bought this cone maker because I had just purchased a new ice cream maker. We love having fresh cones to go with our homemade ice cream. The recipe for gourmet cones in the book is absolutely delicious. We first thought that cones made from the mix that came as a bonus with the cone maker were good until we tried the recipe. Now I can't get anyone to use the rest of the mix. The recipes calls for an extra egg white, but I've been using yolks in ice cream, so I usually have more than enough egg whites.
Once we figured out how much mix was the proper amount to use, it became very easy to whip out a batch of cones while the ice cream is freezing. It's a bit tricky to roll the cones without burning your fingers. My daughters usually just put them into custard cups and make cone-shaped "dishes". We found that spraying with cooking spray before each one really help them slide off easily.
