The description says it is pre-oiled, but when I received it I thought it was dry. I called Catskill Craftsmen and they said that mineral oil was ok to use and that it would take a lot of oil. Needless to say, it soaked up a whole quart of oil. I alternated sides when oiling. I am glad that I had the patience to treat it, as it took a week to apply it. I love the feel of using a high quality knife on this board. Another benefit of this board is that you can flip it and use both sides. The board looks good sitting on the counter.
