Holds sharp edge very well w/ proper use of sharpening steel ... be careful not to cut your fingers!

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Dicing raw potatoes, the knife couldn't cut straight down. I changed to another knife and noticed the same problem. I dice a lot of potatoes for my kids and never had trouble with my old set. This set is great for steaks, but not for heavy kitchen work.
Nicely balanced, sharp.
