I received the Mr. Coffee pod brewer as a gift prior to purchasing this one. As many other people have experienced, my Mr. Coffee unit refused to brew out of the box, and warranty service was very unhelpful. All told, it seemed too much of a hassle to try to get the unit repaired, so I threw it away and bought this SimpleHuman brewer.

In a word, it is excellent! Aesthetically, it is a beautiful machine that looks great on my countertop. It is so easy to use as well -- from refilling the water tank to cleaning the pod holders to actually brewing a cup of coffee. I do have two minor complaints, however:

1. Coffee temperature out of the unit is just about perfect for drinking. However, if you like to start out with a super-hot cup of coffee so you can nurse it for an hour, you will need to microwave the coffee after brewing. Also, if you like to add lots of cream (which cools the coffee) you may need to microwave. This is up to your personal taste of course.

2. Like most other pod brewers, the coffee drip spout is not high enough to put a tall travel cup under it. You'll need to brew into a regular coffee cup or measuring cup then pour it into your travel mug. This extra step also causes loss of temperature, so again you may need to microwave a few seconds.

All in all, it is nearly perfect and I have no regrets about the purchase.
