Comments about DeLonghi Magnifica Super Automatic Coffee, Espresso, Cappuccino and Latte Machine - ESAM3300:
I decided that spending $120 a month at Starbucks (and every café from home to work) was a waste, not to mention making it to work just in time after waiting in line for 15 minutes. I researched all the machines that I could find and read every review twice. I decided on the Magnifica due to its cost, design, and good reviews (many people stated the pump is very strong and the espresso produced is not bitter). I guess that I could have found a cheaper machine but compared to other Super Automatics this was a good deal.
While I am a novice Home Barista I do consider myself a Latte drinking feign. I don’t have super refined coffee tastes but I DO NOT like bitter espresso. I also drink Latte’s so I can’t speak to drinking the espresso black. This was my first experience shopping from HomeClick and producing home made coffee. The machine comes with an instructional DVD and easy to read manual.
I haven’t had this machine long. After using it every day for a week here are my observations.
PROS:
-Machine heats up in about 1 minute.
-Espresso Produced is smooth and not bitter.
-Almost immediate turn around time to brew another coffee.
-Can use beans or ground coffee.
-Drip tray is pretty deep.
-NO TAMPING!!!!
-Multiple choices for strength of and volume of coffee produced, cup height used, and coarseness of the grind.
CONS:
-Machine is very noisy; from turning it on to warming up to brewing the espresso it’s pretty noisy.
-Machine goes through cleaning cycles before and after brewing and before you can steam milk (the steaming apparatus drains water until it is ready to steam this may be normal to machines like this). I feel like this is a waste of time and cups but I do appreciate it.
-Steaming Wand could protrude farther from the machine; it is a minor inconvenience to steam the milk so close to the side.
So far I am pleased with the machine aside from it arriving covered in ground coffee and dried liquid residue.
