Comments about Frieling French Coffee Press Maxi 23 oz - 0103:
Always preheat a French press pot with hot water, leaving in the heating water until you are ready to add the ground coffee and the hot coffee water. Alternatively, preheat the pot, pour out the prewarming water, put in the ground coffee, and close the lid. This method releases more of the aromatics of the coffee. Reverse Osmosis water reveals the true character of any roast or type of coffee beans you choose to use. RO water is very clean tasting and has no off flavors so it doesn't influence the taste of the coffee.
Coarse ground coffee works best but any grind can be used. I prefer a French roast, or darker, but other coffees - including preground canned coffee - will work well. A burr grinder is best for whole beans because the uniformity of grind extracts the best flavor from the coffee but, any type grinder will do. It is not necessary to clean the pot after each use - a rinse of the pot and filter assembly works well. Every seven or eight uses, clean the pot thoroughly and disassemble the filter apparatus - not over the sink so you don't lose any filter assmbly pieces down the drain! Give the pot and filter assembly a thorough cleaning with a soft brush and dish detergent. Rinse the pot and filter assembly thoroughly.
Make only enough coffee that you, and whomever, can have one cup per pot. As with any French press pot, letting coffee sit on the grounds will make the coffee very bitter in short order. I don't see having to make one cup each per pot as a disadvantage because a fresh pot is easily and quickly made. The coffee made with this type of pot has a unique character all its own. You will always have a very slight amount of "mud" in the bottom of your cup. This is no big deal, especially to Turkish coffee drinkers.
A stainless steel French press pot is the last coffee pot you will ever buy. They last longer than a lifetime so, you can pass them down within your family. You can also have the pot engraved with designs, initials, or whatever you choose.
These pots are a great value for money, unbreakable, easily maintained, and pleasing to the eye. I have convinced several friends to replace their electric drip coffee makers with a stainless steel French press pot. My friends have always been pleased by these pots and would never return to electric drip coffee makers. In short, I believe this is the best coffee pot anyone can own.
