While not top of the line, it is a great product. Lionel© has a great tradition of quality and durability. I still have a train that was bought 20yrs ago and wanted something for my son to play with. I bought this for my 6 year old. He loves it, and has played with daily for three weeks. I would suggest that if you have a child that wants one, supervision is recomended, as I had to teach mine how to handle and care for it, otherwise any train wouldn't last long. Overall a great product and perfect for a first train for anybody who is interested in starting a lifetime fascination of model railroad.
