I'm gradually replacing all the toilets in our house with the Toto Ultramax -- it brings a whole new technology to flushing and, combined with the sleek appearance and the protective SanaGloss finish, makes it well worth the extra cost.

I had a minor valve-sticking problem with my first Ultramax about a year after I installed it, but Toto's great technical support helped me to fix the problem within minutes.

How do I use this product?...well it IS a toilet, so no further explanation is necessary. It is effective, efficient, and quiet. Plumber said we got a good price on a very good toilet. So far, so good. We are completely satisfied with the product and highly recommend it. Oh, don't forget to measure the distance from the bolts on the toilet base from the wall to get the right size. Whew...we didn't, but lucked out.

Great Toilet. Had cheap Gerber toilets that were installed when the house was build. Have always had issues with plugging. I've had the toilet about a month and no issues so far. A little noisy, but no big deal. Very fast flush. The Sana-Gloss is nice!

We had bought REALLY expensive color cordinated American Standard toilets about 10 years ago...they were always a problem. When one of their seats broke and it was going to cost $200 to replace it, our plumber suggested to throw them out and replace with Toto. We have been happy with the results. You just cannot clog them and they use very little water

We got this toilet ot replace a builder's standard - lousy - toilet that never managed to fully flush anything solid. So far (1 week) we've been very pleased with the Toto. Looks good (1 piece) and flushes well and stays clean looking with the sanagloss finish.

This toilet has very contemporary design and fits places with standard rough-ins for the supply water (5 or 6 inches) because it is not skirted. We receive a lot of complements from guests and friends.Bought one for our master bathroom 10 months ago and now added the same in the guest bathroom. Over the 10 months the toilet has never clogged. The old contractor grade toilets were clogging at least once a week. This toilet is also very easy to clean because of its SanaGloss layer. With the name Toto, I expected the toilet to be a little more sleek. Even though I paid extra for the Sana Gloss, residue still remains around the bowl and I have to flush twice more. I bought two Kholer units at half the price for my other washrooms and they do a better job. Overall I am disappointed coz this company markets a high end product but does not deliver. Buyer beware.

We selected this toilet after our plumber recommended the Toto brand. We had a very small bathroom area within our master bath that this model fit in perfectly. Installation was easy and the toilet works great. We researched a number of Toto toilets before deciding on this one. Great flusher, Sanagloss should make cleaning easier and we plan on adding a washlet.

The best toilet ever! Always had trouble with my upstairs toilets. I replaced one with a Toto at the suggestion of my plumber and haven't had a problem in months. I am replacing the other one now. This toilet lives up to the hype. I just bought a house after years of renting. I've lived in a lot of places and have been consistently dissatisfied with the toilets that I've had (In some cases they have actually been decent toilets like Toto but still disappointing). I wanted the best conventional toilet I could get. I read all the reviews and decided on this one for my second (guest bathroom). I went with a neorest for the master bath but it has yet to get installed so I can't comment. All I can say about the Ultramax is that I am extremely pleased with the power and how much paper this toilet can move so quickly. The sanagloss is not as great as I thought it would be in terms of cleaning itself but the manufacturer recommends doing an initial cleaning which I did not do yet so I will not knock any points for that (just moved and have to locate cleaning products).

We bought three of these to replace sub-standard water hogs in our home. My husband installed them all in one morning and we are just glad we have 3 or we would fight over them! They are amazing. I don't know how they flush with so little water and have the bowl remain so clean but they do.

We've had so many problems with the flushing system of our old toilets. I can't count how many times they have overflowed. We finally decided to find a toilet with the best flushing system available. The TOTO is the answer. Everything disappears with only one flush. It's very quiet and has a nice sleek design - something that I never thought we would be able to find in one toilet. We've since replaced all our toilets with the TOTO and have absolutely no regrets. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for the ultimate toilet!!

We bought this item to replace the 30 year old toilet that came with the house. After three weeks we are still impressed with the performance.

Every time I flush I think to myself, "I don't know...it's not much water." And every time it works like a champ. Pretty amazing.

The water surface in the bowl is larger than I expected. Because the flush is only a few seconds long there isn't as much bowl washing as a standard toilet, but with the SanaGloss finish the cleaning action has been adequate. And on the rare occasions when a second flush is needed, you're still not using as much water as a standard toilet.

The soft-close seat doesn't feel quite as sturdy as a standard wood seat and has a slightly odd inward shape. Not too bad, just different.

Things I like:

It's fast. Really fast. Both flush and refill.

Even with the elongated bowl it doesn't stick out any further than the round-bowl model it replaced. In fact, even though the seat is much larger than the old one, the whole thing is smaller.

We will definitely buy another for the second bathroom.

I have been nothing but impressed by this TOTO toilet and plan to purchace 2 more for our upcomming renovation.
The SanaGloss finish is great. The toilet is powerful but not overly noisy. It fills quickly and was simple to install. The unit is pre assembled so all I did was place it attach the water connection and install the toilet seat. I could not be more pleased. My only complaint is that the tank top is sloped as a result its not possoble to place items on top of the toilet.

we were very reluctant to give up our old toilet and switch to a more water efficient one, because the ones we had tried required multiple flushes and continually stopped up, but the Toto Ultramax is so powerful that we haven't had any problems. we recommend the elongated seat version, it's more comfortable and even fit into a limited space. we do not have a standard rough in, so the tank is a few inches from the wall and looks fine. We've long been fans of Japanese toilets and are glad that Toto is available in the U.S. now.
