Guardian fiberglass half round hearth rug.

Product Features

100% fiberglass face material, polyester binding, vinyl backing
The Guardian rugs from Goods of the Woods have a fiberglass face that gives them the highest protection of any hearth rug on the market. Embers will simply not burn the fiberglass face of this rug. The heavy vinyl back is designed to make the rug lay flat and avoid tripping hazards. The vinyl backing is non slip on most surfaces.
All of their hearth rugs meet the CPSC standard FF 1-70 for flammability of carpets. This test is often called the “pill test” and certifies that the carpet will not continue to support combustion once the ignition source has cooled or been removed. The ember that pops out may char a spot on the hearth rug but the rug will not burn. It will protect the underlying surface.

I have new carpeting and was afraid of sparks burning it. I feel better having the rug in front of the firepalce. But, I forgot about it being fiberglass and it's hard on your knees. I wish I purchased a larger rug. I recommend this product.

We put this on existing carpet in front of our new wood stove insert because it was getting melt marks from sparks. This rug takes all the worry away and looks decent in the process. It is not the prettiest thing ever, but it does the job and is not ugly. Simple and effective. Worth the money if you do not want to replace a hearth rug all the time due to burn marks.
