Comments about Hudson River Stove Saranac Freestanding Pellet Stove - Includes Log Set and Brick Lining Kit - SARANACFS:

The stove is better than what I expected. The one thing I would suggest is if you have a basement, install the stove there. I installed mine on the first floor and then moved it to the basement. These stoves are well worth the expense. My house is 3200 square feet

Have been using my unit for about a month now. I now have two issues with it since the writing of my last review. One, the burn pot fills with ashes after 12 hours use (using super-premium pellets). Two, on a cold start up, the unit turns itself off about 5 minutes, filling the room with smoke. [...]

Comments about Hudson River Stove Saranac Freestanding Pellet Stove - Includes Log Set and Brick Lining Kit - SARANACFS:

[...] Used in a 1600 sq. ft. finished, walk-out basement in the media room. Based on manufacturer recommendation, I upgraded to a 4" vent pipe considering we are situated at 10,000 ft. I set it on the #2 (out of 5) setting to keep the chill out of the basement. On this setting, I go through about 20 lbs of pellets in a 12 hour period. It seems to me it could be a real fuel hog on higher settings. Would not recommend use in a bedroom due to the noise levels of the blower and the dropping of pellets into the burn pot. The higher the heat setting, the more noisy the unit gets. After 2 - 40lb bags of pellets, the burn pot is already getting clogged up with ashes that won't drop down into the ash pan. Had to turn the unit off to cool in order to clean out the burn pot. Attractive, sturdy, and well constructed unit. High guage metal used. Enjoy the self-ignitor & use of a thermostat. Not all units offer these features! Watch out, if that's what you would like to have for features.
