This log set represents a balance of manufacturing quality and price. While it is approved for vent-free use, my experience with it indicates that you better have a real fireplace damper available to open in case you are susceptible to the respiratory effects of breathing the products of combusted natural gas. It definitely adds substantial heat in vent-free operation, but my family was feeling ill within 24-48 hours of limited use, and all were fine within 6 hours of opening the damper. So for us, any heating efficiency has "gone out the roof". It is attractive and could save broken pipes in a wintertime loss of electricity. My CO detector never sensed any threat, but anyone with asthma or other respiratory issues beware.

These gas logs were easy to install and they also add a warm glow to our home as well heat to our home.
