I purchased this unit to mitigate rising heating costs. We installed it in an existing zero-clearance fireplace and relined the chimney as well. I anticipated using my heat pump furnace with this stove due to the size of my house (2400 sq feet with volume ceilings). BUT, my 19' X 20' living room with 12' ceilings, the adjoining study, kitchen (15' X 26' room with 10' ceilings), and entryway are all at a comfortable 67 F WITHOUT the heat pump on! It's 26 F outside right now and got up to about 30 F today. The blower makes a big difference and my recommendations for the future design of this appliance would include a more powerful blower (by 50-100%) and a sliding flue collar for better ease of installation (as well as a 1''-2'' taller flue collar). Finally, this unit lets off a stinky smoke during the first burn as the paint cures. I would recommend to anyone (if possible) to fire a "new" wood burning appliance outdoors for 24 hours before installing indoors. Your nose and lungs will thank you. Finally, doing this project ourselves (it's a two person job) saved us thousands over retail!
