Reminds me of the tone arm on my old record turntable that was viscose dampened. The lid/seat slowly and silently lowers to its resting position without that old loud bang of the old seat. Now that's class.

We had the Toto Toilets and seats at our last house after a year at the new house we changed over to the Toto seats. These seats are quality build and last forever without problems. If problems do accrue replacement parts are available.

Very comfortable seat. Easy to install except for the instructions telling you to open the flaps for the mounting screws, then lifting the lid to position the seat on the bowl, and if you are not extremely careful, the flaps will snap off. Both of mine did. But they do fasten on correctly without the attachment part. Other than that, the seat works pretty cool. Don't know if it's worth[$] though and I probably would not buy it again.

Seat is not very comfortable for long sessions. Not a lot to sit on. Seat slopes inward so it is as if your are perched on edges. The quiet close feature does work, however.
When I was installing it, I accidently broke off the cover to one of the bolts that attach the seat to the bowl. The bolt cover is flimsy so be careful.

I purchased this seat with my TOTO Drake because I didn't think a cheap seat from [...]would fit or even match. The seat works fine and there are no issues with comfort. My only complaint is the seat looks like something that should be in a Winnebago camper. It matches fine but it looks too awkward mounted on such a sleek looking toilet bowel for my personal preference.

Even when firmly attached to the toilet, the lid wobbles side to side on the bowl 1 full inch. Feels like it's tapered inwardly, and wants to make my butt fall into the bowl. Doesn't actually close slowly, it just kinda hangs in mid air.

For the money, this is realtively well made, solid plastic, toilet seat that will not slam shut. However, though the design is very utilitarian and matches the toilet well, it is a bit uncomfortable as the seat rim is angled steeply toward center. I suppose the intent was to ensure that your butt is aligned at true target center of the toilet when seated. If that is the intent, then this seat fulfills that objective very well since you will not, without significant personal discomfort, sit on the seat off to one side or the other.

I bought this seat to go with the Toto Drake toilet. I had read a consumer review about how toilet seats from another manufacturer didn't fit well on the Toto Drake. So I spent what I consider a lot of money for this toilet seat to make sure it would fit correctly. My husband, who didn't know I had bought this seat, had taken the toilet seat off our old toilet and put it on the Toto. It fit almost perfectly with only a slight overhang at the front (1/4 inch). Something I could live with. But we replaced it with the SoftClose since I had already purchased it. It does the job it promises (closes softly), but the feel is 'cheap plastic', not at all the solid high-impact plastic the manufacturer mentions. The seat and lid slide and rattle around with the slightest move. The screws on the seat are as tight as they can be but the seat and lid just have to much 'wiggle room' sideways. Disappointing for such an expensive seat. The seat itself slopes inward which is something I still have to get used to. In my opinion it doesn't invite 'marathon sessions' which, I must admit, IS a positive with two males in the house! I've kept my old toilet seat and will put it on the Toto if the shake, rattle and roll of the SoftClose seat starts to get too much.

This is the seat that comes as being the match for my new Toto Drake toilets. The Drake is one of the best home improvement purchases I've made in a while. It's quality easily meets it's price ... which is why this seat is such a disappointment.

The seat just doesn't mount securely. The attachment nut and bolt are plastic and I have tightened them to the point that I'm afraid they will fail should I go any farther and STILL the seat can wiggle from side to side. Besides fealing a bit cheap, it means that when you walk into the bathroom you a see a seat that is sitting off to one side of the bowl.
This all seems to be "nitpicking" and perhaps on any contractor grade of toilet this seat would be just fine ... but when you consider how stunningly brilliant the Drake itself is, the quality of this seat just seems so out of place.

Wish they had put a little more design effort into the seat/toilet attachment.

I bought a Toto soft close seat 5 years ago when I bought my first Toto toilet. I was not pleased with it because it wouldn't stay up and "softly closed" when I was urinating. So I was not happy with when my wife wanted me to order two more. However this design is much improved and I am pleased that I no longer have to try to hold the seat up with my knee to keep from urinating on it. 5 stars for the new and improvedToto soft close toilet seat!

This is more of a conversation piece at most. ha ha Your guests will be surprised when it closes slowly with no help. I don't think I would put this in a kids bathroom as they would be playing with it all the time. Our daughter had a bad habit of dropping the toilet seat whenever she was finished with the toilet. It was annoying to hear, but at least we knew where she was! I thought it was worth a few extra dollars to not have to listen to the banging. After trying it out, I think the decision was a good one. A breeze to install, and it does what it should.

While I like the slow-close lid, I'm not sure about the profile of the toilet seat. The seat slopes down toward the inside of the seat and is different than traditional flat toilet seats. It definitely takes some getting used to.

I bought this seat to match my Toto Drake toilet (a great toilet which I highly recommend - I wish I liked the seat as much!). The seat looks very nice and seems to be built well, but it is just not very comfortable. The ring is tapered downward resulting in a smaller contact area and less support than a standard seat. As a result it puts a lot of pressure on your legs. I guess it's okay for reading letters to the editor, but don't expect to get through a feature article without your legs falling asleep!

The shape of the top of the seat curves down toward the bowl, and is a bit odd to sit on. My wife hates it, I'm not fond of it, but can deal with it. We will ask guests what they think over time, but so far, it's thumbs down. The soft close feature is nice, but no big deal.

I've tried another soft seat close from Bemis, but the Toto one is a bit more comfortable...at least for my behind. I think it is because it has a slight slope toward the bowl. I would give it a 5 star if the cost was similar to Bemis. Otherwise, it soft close seat works great and very comfortable.

The seat seems like cheap plastic. It is brand new so all is well so far, but we are expecting it to show a lot of scratches over time.

The close mechanism works, and the seat closes okay. The lid, however, is VERY slow to close (30+ seconds). My wife thought it was stuck because it is so slow.

I would buy this again if it holds up over time and starts closing faster with use.

Although the soft close feature works fine, the seat is a little less substantial than I expected. I'm no engineer, so maybe the lightweight design is necessary for it to self close. I suppose I can't have everything. Overall, I would still buy again, because it is worth it to be rid of the annoying seat banging from a normal seat.

All I can say is this seat will get people talking. It is the coolest, strongest, most noise free seat I've ever seen. The best part is the closing mechanism. It slowly closes so it can't slam down. Simply amazing. It takes about 8 seconds for the seat to close. I have bought seats in the past that are flimsy and cheap feeling. This seat is the opposite. I also like the curve of the seat. This is in a hall bathroom which will be used a lot by a handicapped husband. I am not very happy with the rounded inward (concave just like the Kohler seat we now have) opening, making it hard for him to rise. He must scoot out to the edge before rising. Our salesman told me it was flatter which I would have preferred.
We haven't moved into the house yet, so I don't know how hard it will be for him yet.

Got these seats to go with our new Toto's. Install took all of two minutes. I love the slow-letdown of the seat and lid. Jury is still out on the comfy-factor - the curve is different than our old seats, and our old buns need to adjust!

This toilet seat is different... usually, seats are kinda flat. This one is bent toward the inside, and that makes you wonder if you are seating on the seat or forgot to pull it down...
I love the soft close system (it takes its time to close, so that you don't have to lower to do it manually.)
I am still not used to this seat. It's not bad, just very different in shape!

These seats are a little pricy but they are really cool. It will be interesting to see how long they continue to function as well as they do when they are new. Who would think a toilet seat would make a great Christmas present...give em a gift that is a constant reminder of you! The odd size doesn't lend to normal store-bought seat covers.

I love this seat. It is actually the second one that I've installed in my home. It's very practical if you have children who are constantly dropping the toilet seat. The only problem I have is waiting for it to close when I have to use the facilities urgently :)

This seat works very well. It is also made so you do not see any screws. However, this seat has a higher than normal profile and looks a bit odd on my Toto Clayton bowl.

Nice try Toto, usually good product design make us efficient and more effective, but this seat will require you to waste more time on your knees cleaning, the soft cover by Toto is fine, but there are too much cavities, pockets and deep corners that you could imagine to clean on the underside of the seat, I would go with other brands, try BEMIS.
But stay with the Toto Toilets, they are the best !

We have a window with a shutter behind the toilet. Often the seat was up and we would open the shutter and BANG the seat would fall and scare the balzes out of you. Also at night someone would close the seat and bang wake you up.

This toilet seat looks good, is comfortable and has the best feature - that being the soft close function. With the soft close you just get the seat started in a downward direction and just let it go. It will close slowly and silently all be itself. You don't have to bend over to close the seat and you don't have to worry about it slamming down making noise in the middle of the night. In fact you cannot slam it down if you want to. I've bought one for every toilet in the house (3), even though its a little expensive compared to a standard seat. Its worth it though!

Closes slowly and quietly, which is great for a house with small children. Just give it a push in the right direction and the soft close machinery does the rest. The seat is a bit thinner and less comfortable than the older model but still gets the job done.

Other brands have a consistance closing speed no matter if you partially lift the seat and let go or if it is full open and you want to close the seat and lid. This seat will slam on occasion if you do not fully lift the lid or seat before you let go.

My wife complained that seat angled up too much on the sides when sitting on it.

Good seat, but does not rate as high as other brands of similar design.

Love the slow, non-slam mechanics of the seat, but the slope of the seat rim is too sharp. The rim could be a bit wider and/or not slope so sharply.

Unless this toilet seat is installed prior to installation of the toilet, you must need a special tool that is about one inch in diameter and jointed in order to put the wingnut on the screw. You enter the toilet from the back and have to work up to the top of the toilet seat. Totally impossible.
THE REAL KICKER was when I found the toilet instructions that the plumber had left behind. The diagram showed a seat screw that had a toggle bolt around it! That makes perfect sense, but it is NOT WHAT WAS PROVIDED. CONSEQUENTLY, I HAVE THREE NEW TOILETS WITH OUT SEATS!
