I love the look of this toilet (I bought three of them) and added the excellent Toto soft close seat. The flush seems short but powerful and a huge difference from the old standard toilets. Installation was pretty straight forward, using the instructions, although they might need to be clearer in a place or two. Got a thicker waxring than I needed, but all is well. It's leakfree and works like a charm without requiring any adjustments.

I was skeptical when I read the reviews, but after I installed this toilet I was amazed at how well it works. I have had it for a little over 2 months now, and it hasn't even come close to being clogged. My old toilet I would have to stand over with a plunger. It's not the quietest toilet out there, but with one big swoosh everthing is gone. I would not hesitate to put another one in my other bathroom when needed. You can't go wrong with the Toto.

My first Toto toilet, and, quite simply, the best toilet I've ever owned. The G-Max technology and the inner design of the bowl produce a powerful flush with very little water, and it's easy to clean inside and out. It works extremely well in a house like ours with low water pressure. Unlike the low-flush toilet it replaces, it hasn't plugged up once in three weeks of use.

As for installation, Toto includes bolt caps but no bolts or nuts, which I think is a mistake. If you can't use your old bolts, you'll have to buy a set and use a hacksaw, or just a hacksaw blade, to cut the bolts to size. Also, Toto should take lessons from Kohler in how to write detailed instructions with diagrams for the DIYer.

I purchased the 1.6 gal and the 1.2 gallon versions of this toilet and it seems that there is no difference in the tank only a setting difference on the float mechanism. Both had the ability to go up to what I measure as being 2.2 gallons, which is what I have them set to now.

I love them. I went for the soft close seat and I do not regret it at all.

I have yet to have the toilet installed as my contractor hasn't gotten to that point yet in finishing my added bathroom. However, I have the exact same toilet in my main bath, and he installed that one as well, saying it was very easy to install. I've had wonderful luck with it - total flush the first time using very little water. I originally bought one due to all the positive reviews I'd read, and everyone was right -- it's a great toilet - trouble free so I knew I wouldn't get anything else but a Toto if I ever remodelled and added another bathroom. As a single woman I know I didn't want continuing toilet problems, needing to plunge, jiggle the handle to stop it from running, having to call a plumber, etc. (All of which I had to deal with with my old American Standard). And,it's a very reasonable price given the outstanding performance and over-all quality. You absolutely will not regret getting this toilet.

Love this toilet. I had a lot of problems with my previous toilet leaking (American Standard), so I read reviews and found that a lot of people really liked this toilet. I have to agree with them. Haven't had to flush it twice, no leaking, and it refills super fast. The only thing that I would warn people about is that the tank is not flush with the wall behind it. There is about a 2" gap. I wouldn't have noticed it except that the last time I painted my bathroom, I painted around the toilet that was there, so I had to re-paint the wall behind the tank when I installed the Toto Drake.

Other than that, I would recommend this toilet to anyone who wants a water efficient toilet with a fantastic flush!

I purchased this unit after my plumber recommended a Kohler that didn't get great reviews online. This unit was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but thus far it's been good. I've yet to really challenge its flushing capabilities, but from what I can see, it works well. It flushes quickly, but with what appears to be much "varoom!" It also fills back up quickly and quietly, which is nice.

After 4 years in my new house, and 4 years complaining about the builder grade toilets, I broke down and replaced the downstairs toilet with this model. All I can say is WOW. The remaining 2 toilets in this house...well their days are numbered!! I will soon be replacing them with this model.
The flush is a little louder (NOT BAD AT ALL) than my old toilet, but that is to be expected when the toilet is actually doing its job rather than just filling the bowl with water and then going down the drain like my old one. I have nothing bad to say about this toilet EXCEPT:

- This toilet tends to get marks on the sides of the bowl that do not come off until they are scrubbed HARD. The marks will not go away just by flushing throughout the day. This was something I did not expect.

- It would be nice if I didn't have to hold the flush lever for 2 seconds in order to get a full flush. Granted, a half flush will do the same job, but I would like the option of being able to just flush once and forget about it

I had read other reviews and felt that if it was half as good as reviewed, it was pretty good. The reviews were understatements... This is the best toilet I've ever installed. The appearance and quality are first rate.

The installation was a snap and I was pleasantly surprised by the additional space between the back of the tank and the wall. the toilet it replaced was nearly snug to the wall and had to be removed for painting or occassional cleaning.

The base on these toilets appear slightly larger than average and provide excellent stability. Performance is great, as indicated in other reviews.

The Toto Drake is an excellent toilet with low water use and strong flush. The seats aren't the best, they push way forward on the toilet and are hard to clean on the hinge side. The best part of the toilet seat is the color match but if you know the matching Kohler slow close it may be better.

Strong flush. I can't imagine that it will ever clog. It is amazing how little water it uses, too.

It's quieter than our previous toilet but still makes the "gurgle" sound at the end of the flush like the old one did. Based on the reviews we were expecting something like a Porcher toilet we have that has a nearly silent flush. This one is certainly not silent but it is fairly quiet.

The seat seems like cheap plastic. It is brand new so all is well so far, but we are expecting it to show a lot of scratches over time.

I would definitely buy this again for most uses but might look for a quieter flush in our master bathroom.

The toto works great. I bought a Gerber at the same time for my master and I can tell the difference in quality in the flushing mechanism. The plumbing supply store sold me on the Gerber because it is finished throughout the whole toilet without paying extra. Unfortunately, I don't like it as much as my Toto. We put the toto in the kids/guest bath and I find myself prefering to use that bathroom because of the Toto. The finish around the top of the lid could use some improvement--it looks a little rough but the interior mechanisms are fantastic.

Went to the large box hardware stores and almost bought two high end toilets there, but could not decide between American Standard and Kohler. Decided to go home and do a little research and really glad I did. I was not at all familiar with the Toto brand but the positive comments about this manufacturer and the negatives about the more well-known manufactures made me take a chance on the Toto brand.

My old, high-water usage commodes were not up to the job. Often the family had to flush 2 or 3 times even after doing complete replacements of the flush mechanisms and flappers. Every few weeks it seems I was having to use the plunger to unclog one of the commodes. Not a fun job. Normally, I'm a do-it yourself guy, but decided I would have a professional plumber install the Toto toilets. I didn't want to take the chance I might break one, plus the plumber takes old one away.

I'm still surprised every time I flush and can't get use to the fact that so little water flushes so efficiently. Swish and everything is gone. Not only does the Toto use about half the water of my old commodes, it only needs one flush. I expect the water saved will more than pay for the new toilets. These models really do work as well as everyone claimed. I'm impressed.

My only complaint is that the Toto does not fit flush to the wall. Not sure why it is designed like that. I did not pay attention to that part of the spec sheet when I bought it but it shows 1-1/8" space between the tank and the wall. However, mine have nearly a 2" gap. Also, the rear of the tank top is slightly curved so it would not be possible to form a flush fit with the wall in any case. Not a big deal, but just wasn't expecting that. I will either have to repaint the wall and leave the gap or extend a false wall out to close the gap. I suspect there may be a reason for this design, it's just not obvious to me what it is. In any case, functionally the Toto Drake works to perfection and I have already recommended it to other friends and neighbors if they decide to upgrade.

I bought 2 drake toilets and one of them catches the waste more than the other. It was not smooth at the bottom of the bowl. The flapper didn't last long luckily [...] carries replacement flappers. It's quiet and it flushes with a simple flick. It was probably a half flush bec. it didn't use all of the tank water. I will try to ask for a replacement bowl and review that experience.

We have/had Standard brand low flow toilets (4 in total) in our home, which are the original ones installed by the builder. They were consistently being clogged wherein a normal visit would require at least 2 flushes to get the job done. After having to unclog them so often, I decided to look for new toilets. After a bit of research, it was immediately clear that the Toto brand of toilets had superior design and functionality. Consistently, I read how even for a low flow toilet they did the job very well. After consulting with my wife and hearing her strong support for the idea (she did not like unclogging the toilet), I decided to take the chance and believe the raving positive comments. We purchased two toilets along with the SoftClose® Toilet Seat - SS114 which is a perfect mate to the toilet. You will need to buy a seat for it as it does not come with one and the SoftClose feature of this seat really has made me more consistent about putting the toilet seat and lid down. I now take for grated this slow closing feature, so much so that on a recent business trip, during my late night visits to the bathroom, I kept dropping the lid to the hotel toilet, making a huge noise, which I'm sure woke my neighbors.

The toilet performance is amazing. It has two modes a half flush mode for light jobs and a full flush mode for standard fare. I've never had to multi-flush this toilet as I had on our previous toilets. The operation is pretty quiet and the half flush mode is barely audible from the next room, a subtle "Glurg" noise and the light coughing of the toilet as it draws air down the drain, that's it. The full flush mode does not sound any more noisy than the less effective Standard brand toilets in the other less frequently used bathrooms.

Installation was pretty easy and if you are doing it yourself, you of course will have to go out and purchase a wax collar and I suggest some caulking for the base (where the toilet contacts the floor). Because my parents had owned a motel when I was a kid, replacing toilets was a routine job and this toilet was pretty easy to install. I think that even if this is your first toilet install, if you follow the directions, it should be pretty straight forward and easy. Although, I don't recommend self installation if you cannot comfortably lift 45 lbs. The only issue is the description of the washer direction for the main bolts. These are the plastic washers that the bolt caps snap onto. In the directions they tell you they are directional but the don't tell you what that direction would be. So the face with the smaller diameter (you will know what I am talking about when you see it) should be down. Other than this, its a pretty easy build.

We have been using our toilets for about a month so far and not a single multi-flush or clog. Normally in this time we would have had at least 3 or 4 clogs. Its likely we will replace the other two toilets soon.

These toilets continue to amaze me. I remodeled my last house, and after reading pages of reviews, I bought 2 new Toto Drake toilets. I absolutely loved them! I took all of the nasty plungers out of the house, and didn't have 1 single clog in almost 4 years.

I bought a new house about a year ago, and 2 of the 3 toilets were already Toto products. Well, I just remodeled the master bath, and replaced the 3rd toilet with a Toto as well.

They flush completely the first time, every time, so you do not have to flush multiple times to clear the bowl. They are the only toilets I have seen that actually use the GPF rating they have on them, since you don't need to re-flush them.

I can't say enough how pleased we have been with Toto toilets, and I recommend them to every person I talk to about remodeling a home.

This is the second bathroom in the house where we've replaced the original toilet with a Toto brand. They are very well designed, virtually impossible to plug and show every intention of requiring zero maintenance unlike the old models that required new flappers and float assemblies every few years.

We put a Drake, which is a fairly traditional design, in our master bath and a Nexus in our guest bathroom. The unique Nexus design gets more comments from guests than the artwork in our home.

We have had nothing but trouble w/3 other toilets for 10 years. Got this one and my husband can't wait to get two more! Flushes everything like you wouldn't believe and it's fast and quiet too! Can't believe I can be this excited about a toilet, but I am!!!

Toilets vary greatly in price and when you shop for them how are you to know how they work.So I looked at some reviews online and realized you don't have to break the bank to get good performance.This unit is reasonably priced and it performance is outstanding.After I tried one I bought two more.No more double flushes.I don't even keep a plunger in the bathroom anymore!!!

I replaced a leaky American Standard and have nothing but great reviews for this new toilet. It works GREAT. One flush always does it and it refills so quickly (only uses 1.6Gal per flush). Its a perfect solution.

When our power-assisted toilet went after only 7 years our plumber suggested we go with a gravity flush toilet. I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on a toilet. I looked up reviews for toilets and found the Toto Drake. It received a good rating and it wasn't expensive. I installed the toilet myself very easily and would definitely recommend it to a friend. So far so good.

I was surprised how little water it uses to create such a strong flush from gravity. It works great and it's fast. Press the lever and it's gone. No unnecessary whirlpool spin. Only con is sometimes in rare occasion it may leave a bit behind on a flush. That would only be in extreme cases and since the water tank holds 2 flushes, you can make quick work of that. For the amount of water it uses, its amazing how well it works.

We are in our 60's, have one 1.6 gal flusher already, and this one replaced an outdated 3+ gal flusher. We have never seen or used a toilet that is this efficient, and that flushes so completely and quietly. We love it!

After suffering through Mansfield toilets in our house for 10 years, I got fed up with having to use a plunger about every other day. I replaced all three of our toilets with Toto Drakes: two elongated and one round. So far, I've been very pleased: quiet, powerful, low flush and a decent buy (cheapest of the Totos). If you want a top of the line toilet, but don't want to spend a huge amount of money, buy these!
