Five Year Limited Warranty

1. TOTO warrants its vitreous china products to be free from manufacturing defects under normal use and service for a period of five (5) years from date of purchase. This warranty is extended only to the ORIGINAL PURCHASE.

2. TOTO’s obligation under this warranty are limited to repair or replacement at TOTO’s option, of products or parts found to be defective, provided that such products were properly installed and used in accordance with instructions. TOTO reserves the right to make such inspections as may be necessary in order to determine the cause of the defect. TOTO will not charge for labor or parts in connection with warranty repairs or replacements. TOTO is not responsible for the cost or removal, return and/or reinstallation of products. This warranty does not apply to the following items.

  • a. Damage or loss sustained in a natural calamity such as fire, earthquake, flood, thunder, electrical storms, etc.
  • b. Damage or loss resulting from any unreasonable use, misuse, abuse, negligence, or improper maintenance of the product.
  • c. Damage or loss resulting from removal, improper repair, or modification of the product.
  • d. Damage or loss resulting from sediments or foreign matter contained in water system.
  • e. Damage or loss resulting from improper installation or from installation of a unit in a harsh and/or hazardous environment.
  • f. Tank flushing mechanisms of plastic or rubber moving parts.
  • g. Toilet seats of plastic, wood or metal.


4. This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may have other rights which vary from state to state.

5. To obtain warranty repair service under this warranty, you must take the product or deliver it prepaid to a TOTO service facility together with a letter starting the problem, or contract a TOTO distributor or products service contractor, or write directly to TOTO KIKI U.S.A. INC, 1155 Southern Road, Morrow, GA 30260 (888) 295-8134. If because of the size of the product or nature of the defect, the product cannot not be returned to TOTO, receipt by TOTO of written notice of the defect shall constitute delivery. In such case, TOTO may choose to repair the product at the purchaser’s location or to pay to transport the product to a service facility.

This written warranty is the only warranty made by TOTO. Repair or replacement as provided under this warranty shall be the exclusive remedy available to the purchaser. TOTO shall not be responsible for lost of the product or for other incidental, special or consequential damages or expenses insured by the purchaser, or for labor or other costs due to installation or removal, or costs of repairs by others, or for any other expenses not specifically stated above. Except to the extent prohibited by applicable law, any implied warranties, including that of merchantability or fitness for use, are expressly limited to the duration of this warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation and exclusion may not apply to you.

with a history of multiple home and upscale rental remodels (over 20 bathrooms since my first house in the 1970's) i've learned that all toilets are not created equal. i chose the toto ULTRAMAX for a new bath in my home, based on internet reviews and size considerations. . . (actually, it was purchased it for a bath that was planned in the studio, but i ended up stealing it for the house when the other project was delayed).essentials for me were that whatever i chose both look great and function impeccably. i've had it with plungers and water damage and running toilets. concern for both preserving natural resources and keeping water bills down also meant finding an efficient toilet.the ULTRAMAX has performed better than any other toilet i've had. it's been installed for almost 3 years. the soft close seat is a bonus. that feature is way cooler than i ever thought it would be--makes it easy to house train my guy housemate and guy visitors. when the studio half bath was finally back on the docket i purchased another toto. this time the AQUIA. while the ultramax had better reviews, i took a chance with the aquia, though reviews at the time were slightly lower than the ultramax... (the narrow tank portion fit the teensy half bath slightly better). my plumber did find the installation somewhat challenging, but certainly no nightmare. a year later, i think it is every bit as good as the ultramax. it is very slick looking, easy to keep the outside clean (no bolts showing, smooth base). the dual flush is GREAT. . . you have to get used to seeing the water level so low in the bowl, but when you just pee, the left side of the flusher washes everything down fine. in fact it works for other stuff too...i've only used the more powerful right side of the flusher a couple of times.in my opinion, you can't go wrong with either of these toto toilets. i can't imagine settling for anything less, now that i see the difference a really good toilet makes. you can pay less for other brands, but toto is worth every penny in the long run. . . and they're not really all that much more costly, especially if you're saving on your water and plumber bills down the road. can't say anything about service, as there was no need[...]

The new Toto looks fabulous in the downstairs common bathroom with its 1 piece design and functions even better. The soft close seat is wonderful so we do not have to hear our 5 children slam the seat. This is a nice feature with a family of 7 in the house. The flush is extremely efficient. In fact, we have not had to plunge once, which is a huge difference compared the water hog that used to be in the bathroom. We have ordered 2 more Totos for the master and guest bathrooms.

I really like the sleek design. It matched (Sedona Beige)perfectly with the Kohler biscuit tub. Flushes very well and have not had problems although I have used it only one week. Installer wants to buy one himself! The only issue is that I did not get the sana gloss and wonder if the iron stains in our water would not show as much as they do now.

Two out of our three toilets broke. We could have replaced the parts but we hated them since they clogged frequently. The Toto flushes amazingly fast and efficiently. We would love to replace the third toilet but don't want to spend that much right now. It may be a little higher priced than Kohler but it is well worth it -- especially since we can get them cheaper online. The installer has Toto toilets himself and praised them highly.

Love this product. We've been suffering with a contractor grade original equipment toilet for years. In addition to using a lot of water for each flush, the old toilet would clog constantly. The Ultra Max is extremely efficient, using a third less water per flush, never clogs due to the wide opening and overall design. It's a simple, but elegant design that works flawlessly. We're already considering replacing three other toilets with the Ultramax.

This toilet is 10 times better than the Kholer that we replaced. We had to flush the Kholer at least two or three times to get the job done. The Toto does it on the first flush every time. I don't think you could ever plug this toilet. I got rid of my plunger.

This is my 4th Ultramax but the first that doesn't have the Sanagloss coating. No problems with the Sanagloss but I cut a few bucks off the price since it was going down in the basement. All of my Ultramaxes function very well (powerful flushes, rarely clog). Plug-n-Play! They come ready to connect to the water supply (all the tank hardware is pre-installed).

The Toto toilet is the David Copperfield of waste removal. Once you flush the toilet everything happens very quickly 2 seconds or less quick and none of this swirling the water around the bowl with each flush, just quick results. Installation was easy...although keep in mind that this is a 1 piece unit...so carrying it up a coupe of flight of stairs (by myself) was a bit of a work out.
Works great! Super low flow, yet very efficient in flushing out everything we managed to throw at it. Very quiet, yet powerful.
Easy seat (or whatever it's called) lets you lift upt he seat and /or cover quicly (no resistance) but when you drop it, it takes a few seconds to slowly fall down (and quietly).
No more slams, no more paying attention to how you lower the seat/etc.
Push with 1 finger so it begins to fall......and walk away.
Would buy again (bought 2)

I have owned 3 of these for 5 years. Never had a problem. NEVER HAD TO FLUSH TWICE. Functionally, it's the best you can buy. However, if you ever need parts, they are not easily available at the big home improvement stores. You have to get them from a Toto seller. All my friends have bought these Toto toilets, on my recommendation, and they all are as happy as me. I will never buy any other toilet, EVER.

My teenage son and I installed two of these toilets. They were extremely easy to put in, look great, and flush everything first time! I couldn't be more pleased. The only odd design about the toilet is the choice of velcro to hold the tank lid in place. It does hold the lid securely in place so I have no complaints. I highly recommend this toilet.

This is the best 1.6 gallon-flush toilet I've tried. You have to try hard to plug it. If it does plug, the bowl is deep enough that it won't overflow on the first flush. Even the second flush brings the water to the brim but not over. This is a huge plus in college-student rentals; these tenants generally respond to a plug by flushing a 2nd or 3rd time, hoping that the plug will pass. With most toilets the result is a flooded bathroom and a phone call to me. This is not the cheapest toilet you can buy, but if you factor in the decreased damage from flooding and the time saved due to fewer service calls, this toilet is an excellent buy. Also, the lid has a damper so that it always closes slowly and gently, resulting in fewer broken toilet seats and cracked bowls. I've been waiting years for this dampening device to fail on one of the toilets, but it hasn't happened; apparently the device is well engineered. The one problem I've had with this toilet is that the float valve failed within a couple of months of installation on the first three that I installed. We have very high water pressure in our neighborhood, and the valves apparently can't handle it. Now when I install a new toilet I simply throw away the float valve supplied with the toilet and install instead a heavier-duty float valve from the local hardware store.

The UltraMax is the ultimate, throw your plunger after installing this model, this is the second one I have purchased, I wouldn't buy anything else. The included seat is comfortable, and you will never hear it slam down due to the unique slow-close design. I personally like the elongated better than the round, and my wife is the opposite, go figure.. You can't go wrong with either model.

Easy installation, good documentation, shipped securely, no problems at all.

My wife can clog just about any toilet. We have tried just about all of them, since remodeling about 5 houses in the last 8 years. We are currently renting a house that has TOTOs. Well I have to tell you that we dont even have a plunger in the building. We do have two plungers in our other home (in another state) which has FIVE Kohlers. We use those periodically.
So, when the sellers of the home we just closed escrow on in California had to comply with low flush standards, we were really happy when they gave us a choice. We now have brand spanking new TOTOs of our very own....and for FREE!!! Life is good.

I have two of these toilets now. One is the standard elogated and one elogated with the SanaGloss feature. Time will tell whether SanaGloss is worth the money, but my initial impression is no. Even without Sanagloss, the flush is so fast and powerful, it seems to do a good job washing away "debris". I love the flush on this toilet. Its fast, powerful, and relatively quiet compared to my old mid '90s one. One of the best things about this product is that it comes with the SoftClose seat, which is an awesome feature that prevents toilet seat slamming. Buying this seat by itself is like $50 bucks, so the fact that it comes with this toilet helps justify its price.

With the exception of having to pay extra to switch the flush handle from the standard chrome to polished brass at a relatively high cost, this is exactly the toilet I was hoping for!

After find unanimous praise for this particular toilet online at various review websites, I decided to spend a bit more than I was expecting to when I decided to remodel my bathroom and replace my existing toilet. I have to say that I am completely satisfied with the looks and effectiveness of this model. No fears of clogging and you can tell that cleaning this model is going to be easy.

Highly-rated UltraMax flushing system really works. One piece design means the tank will never leak (like my old toilet).

The only thing I would improve is to make the water swish around to self-clean the bowl. (They have that feature in a higher end model).

I bought one toilet to test it out, then returned to replace the rest of the toilets with the same model. Spent extra on the most used on to get SanaGloss.

Very easy to install. Love the one-piece design. Flushes forcefully, have not had to flush twice and it has not plugged up. We're very happy with it.

After four years of trouble-free performance, I'm buying two more for other bathrooms in the house. We have very hard, acidic well water, and have had poor luck with Eljer and Kohler. Noisy flush, but only lasts 2-3 seconds. Everybody likes the soft-close seat, but I understand that other mfgrs. have since copied this.
