We have recently re-done all 3 baths in our home; we installed Kohler toilets (both low-end and high-end ones) in 2 bathrooms, and a Toto toilet in the third. No comparison between the Toto and the Kohler - the Toto is much better: flushing action cleans the WHOLE bowl; so far, there are no water stains/rings on the Toto toilet, whereas the Kohler toilets have developed stains that are not removable; toto is easy to clean.
Kohler toilets were installed about a year before the Toto toilet; given our experience, in hindsight, we would always install a Toto toilet in preference to a Kohler, but unfortunately it's too late now to change.
Not enough time has passed to be able to compare the long-term maintenance of the 2 brands; none of them have given us any problem so far.

We bought our second Toto toilet, because we have been so pleased with the Toto Vespin that we bought a year ago. We switched to the Guinevere model because we liked the styling better - it looks great in our guest bathroom! Our plumber said it was easier than the Vespin to install. The extra inch of height (conforms to ADA) is more comfortable for most. I love the Sanagloss and the Double Cyclone flushing system seems to work well. It is slightly noisier than our other Toto, but is still reasonable quiet. We will be replacing a third toilet soon and will be going with the Guinevere again, even though it's a little more expensive than some other Toto models.
Ordering was a very positive experience. I was able to talk with a representative regarding several questions I had before ordering. The delivery was prompt and we were given a choice of two windows of delivery time. Our toilet arrived in excellent condition. The free shipping was an important ordering consideration.

Love this toilet! We ordered two more for our other bathrooms. Love the design (covers the bolts) and efficiency on water. Was a bit skeptical about the flushing ability, so only bought the first one to make sure we liked it. Needless to say, we thought it did a great job and ordered two more.

Beautiful toilet and exceptionally well made. Well worth the extra cost. Flushing system is outstanding and uses very little water but is exceptionally efficient. Base design makes it easy to clean around also. Buy it!

Although we installed this toilet in the "guest" bath, it's on the first floor so it gets more of a workout than either of the other toilets. This Toto 1.6 gallon toilet works better than the old 3+ gallon we had in the bathroom before. It has a VERY nice look. . . I especially like the fact that you don't see the "pipe" like contraption in the base of the unit. The slightly higher height of 2" is also much more comfortable. The sani-glaze finish is also very nice.
