This is a molded plastic toilet seat with soft close cover. The idea on the cover is that it closes slowly with no bang. This has never been an issue with me despite having three boys in the house so this feature was kind of "en". The molded seat takes some getting used to and most of us don't like it; in fact one son won't use the toilet if he has to sit down. He's quite tall, so maybe it's too small for him. Others in the house think it's ok, but frankly I preferred the old wooden seat which unfortunately I tossed out with the old toilet.

I bought 3 seats. I installed one and did not like it at all. It has an odd molded shape and just doesn't 'feel' right. The soft close mechanism is such that it has some 'play' in the seat so it wiggles as if the attaching bolts are loose (even though the bolts are tight)[...]Will replace with another later.

The seats are used in a masterbath and a powder room. We like the idea of the soft and easy close feature, and would reccomend to anyone.We have no bad things to make note of.
Delivery was quick,they arrived in perfect condition in a well packaged box.

the problem I had with the seat is that it was the wrong size. when I completed the installation with the toilet that I bought the two did not match. It seems to me that if someone buys a toilet that the seat that is offered in the same purchase should be compatible. [...]

Versatile - I like to push the seat down and close it before flushing, but the boys like to slow close it, flush, and walk away. Very cool.

The Carlisle has a quiet flush. Along with it's soft-close seat, it doesn't wake everyone at night. We've owned ours for about four years and have yet to need a plunger.
The toilet seat hinge broke recently and so we purchased another. The replacement Toto toilet seat had the same INCORRECT HARDWARE as the seat that was included with the original purchase. The incorrect hardware is designed to be used where the nuts are to be attached by hand underneath the toilet. A one piece toilet, such as the Carlisle, has no underneath. What is needed is a bolt that has expansion type nuts. Long story short, anyone who has made a purchase of a Toto one piece toilet or it's seat, must go to a plumbing hardware supply store. Regardless, IT'S WORTH THE PURCHASE!!!!

I bought a new toto toilet for my master bathroom. Liked it so much, bought another one for my children's bathroom when it needed to be replaced. The toto products are very well built, quiet and water efficient. The toilets came with the seat but I bought an extra one so I can replace them when they wear out. The best feature: soft close cover. It's so cool!

This toilet seat is okay but nothing special. I'm not sure why they recommend you but it with all the Toto toilets other than both are made by Toto.
Bottomline: There are better choices in toilet seats than this one.

We added two in a remodel, and quickly replaced the remaining two in other rooms. Just finished two vacation cabins and these were a MUST. They are worth every dime. Only drawback is you get used to it and then drop the seat with a bang elsewhere!
