The installation went smoothly except that when you thread in the hot outlet and cold inlet pipes they are not parallel so that it's impossible on my horizontal installation to have both pipes sloped horizontally so they can be drained. This is important because in the future you may need to work on the pipes or drain them for winter shutdown. My solution was to add a drain coupling in one of the lines as well as prop up one side of the water heater so that it's not exactly level.
