Comments about Frigidaire 27 in White Washer / Gas Dryer Laundry Center - GLGH1642FS:

i bought this unit almost two years ago, to go in a studio apartment. it has done several loads a week without a hiccup. it's so quiet i can talk on the phone or watch TV in this tiny apartment while it's working.

my only complaint is there should be a 'silence' switch for the end-of-cycle buzzer. it's apparently made to be heard at the other end of the house, which means it's painfully loud in my apartment. i finally pulled off the front panel and disconnected it. would have been nice to just flip a switch instead of dismantling the machine.

Comments about Frigidaire 27 in White Washer / Gas Dryer Laundry Center - GLGH1642FS:

When we first had this installed (and professional installation is virtually required for the gas model) it was a complete disaster. The machine bounced up and down, shook and made so much noise that it was basically unusable. It also destroyed the floor tile upon which it was "dancing." [...] revealed that the unit can not be placed on a standard kitchen tile floor! (who knew??!!) We were told to put it on top of two 2x4s to keep the machine from slipping and sliding all over the place. Once we actually secured this wood to the floor, then put the machine on top of that, things have been much better.Front loading washers are much more noisy than top loaders, so we expected some noise, but nothing like the clanking and shaking that we still get if the machine is the least bit unhappy with the amount or distribution of items inside. Overloading and underloading are both hazards to be avoided. Most recently, by carefully sorting clothes by weight and monitoring how much we wash in each load, performance seems to be improving as is my experience, patience and confidence that this will be a suitable unit. We have space only for a stacked washer/dryer. If I were to choose a stacked model again, I would opt for a top loading washer, even though they are smaller and less efficient. It would be worthwhile for the quiet and peace of mind that the washer is not going to shake and bounce so much that the dryer becomes detached and launched into space. Recommended for patient, resourceful users who have some time and ability to practice using the machine.
