A little too smart
By whocaresVerified Purchaser from davis, ca on 1/7/2008
Pros:
Energy Efficient, Large Capacity, Quiet
Cons:
Cannot open during cycle, Inconvenient controls, Top is domed not flat
Best Uses:
Everyday Clothes, Towels
Describe Yourself:
High-End Shopper
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I use the machine for a variety of fabrics and have only had it for 3-4 weeks. The domed top means that things slide off and the fact that you cannot open the lid without shutting down the machine manually is a real pain. You also have to cycle through menus for the simplest things, like water temp, use of fabric softener, etc. Overall i would much rather have a conventional machine.

After my Maytag Performa failed in just two years I did alot of research to find the right machine. The Fisher & Paykel got alot of high praise. I love the way this machine is intuitive. I just put in the detergent, the clothes and push power and start and away it goes. I don't have to select size or water temperature! I love that this machine has the only two year warranty on the market and for a nominal fee I added four years. I am now covered for at least six years.

I wish I had bought this washer when we first moved in, but I had never heard of Fisher & Paykel. We have owned it since July 2007. I love this high-tech washing machine, and it works great. My wife says she does notice the clothes are cleaner than with our traditional top loader Maytag. Spins water out at high rpm's that means less time in dryer too. It's weird to show-off a washing machine to your friends, but it's so cool! A top loading washer that acts like a front loader...who would have thunk it? :) Wife loves the allergy cycle for the kids bedding. I would buy it again. It would be cool if it had a clear lid to see this machine in action...
