I purchased a dishwasher with a built in water softener. I'm on well-water with a pretty neutral PH, so I did not really notice much of a change in the appearance of my dishes when adding salt. This salt is very expensive, so I probably won't continue to use it. It took an entire box to fill my dispenser.
