- Because the dasher is constructed of heavy duty cast iron, and is electro-less nickel plated, it will never warp out of shape like plastic dashers do. The imported Norwegian Beechwood blades are self-adjusting to ensure the thorough scraping of the inside of the can.
- Tall profile can design allows cream to come in closer contact with ice and salt to give faster freezing.

We gave the ice cream maker as a gift and naturally decided to use it that night after it was opened. We loved the old fashion look of the ice cream maker. At first it was really easy to turn the crank and then we checked the ice cream. We did not know at the time, but the dasher had come apart (the dasher is two pieces). The ice cream turned out incredibly soft because of this. I do have to say, if you knew what the problem was, you would be able to put the dasher back in place and avoid the problem. The dasher slipping out of place makes me think that this is why others experienced metal shavings in the ice cream (we did not have metal shavings). All in all, this is a great old fashion ice cream maker that I would recommend.

This was purchased for family reunions, but the 4H club has used it 3 times in the past 2 months. The ice cream firms up better in consistency then our electric maker, and it is very durable in construction. The maker the 4 group originally purchased broke after 1 use due to plastic parts - not the case with this one! Well worth the money and fun for the kids.
Speedy delivery.

I have a 4 qt. White Mountain ice cream maker purchased 40+ years ago. I purchased 5- 6qt ice cream makers (all hand crank) for each of our 5 daughters and their families. Now, we will be able to make enough ice cream for everyone when we go camping. What a way to meet and make friends when one is camping!

Amazing - last night was the first time I tried our new White Mountain freezer - it was my husband's 59th birthday and I wanted to celebrate it with home made ice cream and family. This is not the first time I've used a White Mountain freezer - I actually grew up with one - only it was the 2 gallon size. Almost every Sunday afternoon we would have the best home made ice cream. We lived on a dairy farm and my Dad would have "special" cows he would "save" their milk, because it would have a lot of cream. Mom would let the cream rise to the top of the milk jug and would pour it off...........so the ice cream was made with "real, untouched by human hands or machines" cream. So with enough "real" cream a dozen of "free range" farm fresh eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla our family along with cousins would be treated to the delicious taste of home made ice cream. How we took those days for granted. We wore out that 2 gallon freezer, Mom & Dad bought a 6 quart size because us children had left home and eventually they stopped making home made ice cream. Two years ago I dug it out of my memories to take it to the 4th of July family gathering at the old "family" farm ( my great grandfather bought it for my grandfather - my brother and two nieces still own it). Well the freezer had seen better times - the seam had split, Mom had it welded, but through time it did leak and needless to say salt water got into the ice cream so I knew it was time for a new freezer. I was so amazed last night when I started to turn the crank how easy it was to turn and how smooth everything worked. The old (40 years) freezer - well I guess it had turned so much the gears were smooth and it was two person job to get the ice cream froze. All in all I want to say "thank you" for making it possible to relive a part of my childhood through the White Mountain ice cream freezer (hand crank) and the delicious ice cream it makes - and that goes double for my 92 year old Dad who can eat home made ice cream with the best of them. My grandchildren and great nieces and nephews think it is really neat to make ice cream - so the memories will continue.
Thank You from Dorothy in Southern Illinois.

White Mountain is the only brand that I will buy, it brings back such great memories & I'm only 56 years young. I remember growing up on the family dairy farm and almost every Sunday afternoon during spring, summer & fall we would have ho-made ice cream. My Dad had a few "favorite" cows that he would save the milk from - Mom would put it in glass jars and let the cream "rise" to the top. She would very carefully take only the cream to make the BEST ice cream. She never cooked the recipe - so very simple eggs, sugar, salt, vanilla and 100% pure cream - virtually untouched by human hands - meaning it was raw milk - oh the taste of that was unbeatable. Unfortunately I have to use Half & Half - not too bad, but it still doesn't measure up to fresh raw cream. It is time to replace the old freezer - only due to the salt rusting the clamp that holds the crank in place - but we still use it, it just that someone has to hold the crank in place while another person turns the crank. My only complaint is "why/when did White Mountain stop making the 2 gallon size?" That is just wrong - 6 quarts is not enough for a family or friends gathering. Thanks for the great memories. Today was the 4th of July, 2007 and we celebrated it on the family farm that has been in the family for over 100 years and the best thing was my Dad at 92 years and almost 8 months was there to celebrate it with us - we are so lucky to have him with us.

Lots of fun for everyone - the anticipation is almost as good as the ice cream!
