I purchased this item and was not happy with the quality of the product. The plastic cups feel as if they are easy to break, so I wouldn't even think about using it to blend a drink with ice. It really is an easy product to use and it fits in well with my kitchen decor. One reviewer stated that there is no on/off switch. The well written instructions clearly explain how to use the product and it's really easy. Also, the instruction book includes a few recipes that are fun and easy to prepare.

Had the same experience as others with the cup/base rotors locking up. Plus, the O-rings around the blade shaft disintegrated, spewing black shavings around inside the base/cup holder. I transferred the blending blade to the chopping blade holder(glad it came with a "spare") and carried on for a few more weeks of once-daily use. Finally, the rotating parts in the base must have gotten stuck or out of sync with the rotor on the cup holder, because it then shaved down the spockets, rendering the base useless. I knew it was cheap when I got it, but it's the only blend-in- the-cup unit with several cups--one for each workday, without the ugly beer-stein handles like the Magic Bullet's. You can put the used one in the dishwasher, and grab a clean one the next day. I just wish it had been built to last (longer than 7 months)

It's true that you can start the blender by pressing down on the cup but I was never able to get the cup out. The absence of a real on/off switch makes it dangerous in my view. I feel cheated but at the same time glad that I discovered the product's defects early on.

I just got it as a gift as well but it does have an on and off switch. If the cup and is out then it is off. When you put the cup in upside down and press down it starts... so you can just press down to start it or pressdown and turn to it locks in to place. When you are finished just unlock and pull up and it shuts off. So far its been pretty good but have only used it for smoothies and it cuts the ice up just fine. time will tell.

have had a week and works great but there are a couple of design features lacking. First, there is no on/off switch so you plug into the outlet when you want to blend and pull out when you want to stop....a bit of a safety issue. Second, the blade assembly has a flimsy rubber seal that I seriously doubt will last since it already has had food get stuck in it and does not appear to be removable for proper cleaning. I got this blender for free as a gift but if I were shopping for one, these features would steer me away....especially the missing on/off functionality. Hopefully it actually lasts.
