This machine is a great improvement over other larger ice cream machines that require ice. This unit is not quiet, but it is MUCH quieter than a 4 quart electric machine. My ice cream recipies are much more uniformly mixed and last longer in the freezer. There is no mess to worry about. The only drawback is the small size of the container, but you can easily make repeat batches. I really enjoy this machine!
