We have the unit in the kitchen and running it collects substantial water. We had to exaust it to another room through louver doors so the heat it creates would not heat up the kitchen.

This is a great item. You can set the humidity level that is acceptable and forget it. Not water to drain - it is connected to the drain pipe from our washing machine.

I am so glad we selected the unit that has the pump so there is not water to drain dispose of. The pump is worth the money.

One of my friends has already purchased it as well.

The built in pump is a great feature - there is no bucket to empty.  This the second one of these units we have purchased.  The first one is still running fine, but its very humid in New England in the summer and we needed another.  The fan on the first one we purchased runs even when the compressor is not running.  The new unit turn itself on and off depending on the humidity of the room.

My basement floods. After the flooding, a professional cleaning company came in and disinfected the entire basement and left a commercial grade dehumidifier. It worked great. A week later the company came and took their machine back. I had to replace it since the humidity in my basement is very high. The DeLonghi stepped in and is giving the commercial machine a run for its money. It is much quieter, much more energy efficient and does its job. The only problem is the water pan is somewhat difficult to remove without spilling a little water. I have been using the pump feature lately, which alleviates the need to empty the pan. I am very happy with my purchase.

We used to have a dehumidifier that did not have a pump. What a pain to carry the water upstairs to empty! This has a pump and you can set the humidity level you want. A great item.
