Comments about Mikasa 16 Piece Set:

We will be using these dishes for both casual and formal occasions. It is a great pattern and suitable for all occasions. We purchased a full set of 12 place settings and have ordered 4 more. We all also purchased the bread and butter plates and the smaller fruit bowls. They are also a very fine quality and suitable for every day use. Having the larger salad plate than my old set of dishes, I am able to use it for lunches or smaller dinners. A big plus is being able to use them in the microwave for quick meals. We intend to use these dishes for many years to come.

Service & Delivery comments:

It did take a while for the dishes to arrive, of course, I knew that up front, but for the price, it was worth the wait.
When the dishes did arrive, one was broken and another had been “fired” incorrectly and had dimples in the glaze, both, I believe were cause by the manufacturer. So we contacted customer service about the problems and all was taken care of. We expect the new replacement dishes in a few weeks.

Comments about Mikasa 16 Piece Set:

Description and picture was unavailable prior to purchase. I probably should have insisted on getting that before buying. Description was: "16 pieces". Nothing else. Plate sizes received are standard sizes, but bowl size and mug size do not match sizes of other pieces previously purchased. Oh well, they'll still be of some use.

Comments about Mikasa 16 Piece Set:

We chose Garden Harvest as our wedding china 14 years ago, and finally decided that it was too beautiful to keep only for "special" occasions. So in converting it to our daily dishware, we needed more than just the service for 4, and wanted to double up by ordering the 16-piece set.The cups that had come with our original sets had been rather short, demure teacups more suited for a bit of chamomille or an after-dinner demitasse. Being real British tea devotees, we were delighted to find the cups in the 16-piece set were serious, mug-sized cups that can give you enough tea (or hot beverage of your choice) to warm you up (and wake you up), and even seem to be durable enough to keep the tea hot longer than our usual corporate mug assortment. The beautiful design can even make cold pizza feel more special, and a genuine prepared meal like fine dining. Then right into the dishwasher with no fuss, and back on the shelf. [...] And a note on the photograph of this set...the photo is of the sets we got years ago (including the smaller cups). This setting includes no saucer, the cups are about twice as tall as the one pictured, and the cereal bowls have a vertical side to them of about 2" high, rather than the flat border of the pictured soup bowl. Search for the cereal bowl and see its picture to better understand the difference. The dinner and salad plates are the same. As mentioned above, these differences are just fine with us, with the soup bowls being better suited to pasta serving and the cereal bowls being better suited to, well, cereal (less potential for spillage than the soup bowls and easier to hold in the hand for those fast mornings). We highly recommend this set, if you hadn't already figured that out...
