The "D" shape rests precisely in the curve of the finger as they curl around the handle. The asymmetrical bolster is ground out more on the right side to provide proper finger placement and an east, secure grip. The knives balance perfectly, with the pivot point just ahead of where the handle sweeps out of the blade.

In addition, the black PakkaWood handles provide the beauty of the genuine wood, but since the wood is impregnated with a waterproof resin-they are as durable as plastic and dishwasher safe.

  • VG-10 stainless steel is clad with 16 layers of SUS410 high-carbon stainless steel on each side, producing a 33-layer rust-free Damascus look
  • VG-10's Rockwell Hardness rating of 61 ensures that it takes and holds its incredibly sharp edge longer
  • VG-10 "super steel" is composed of Carbon, Chromium, Cobalt, Manganese, Molybdenum, Silicon, and Vanadium
  • Shun Classic feature Ebony-black Pakkawood handles specifically designed for premium applications
  • Stainless-steel bolsters and end caps
  • Dishwasher safe
  • NSF approved

My husband and I bought these to replace our Wusthof collection (which was perfectly fine, btw). I had used these knives at a friend's house and instantly noticed that they were more balanced than my Wusthof -- and this is not to mention that they are super stylish! Sharpness is about the same, but if you're looking for precision handling, these are for you.
