LCD Display Dies After 1 Month - DO NOT BUY!
.
This is a common problem with the Nelson 5945 Hose Timer. Setup and installation was a snap, and it did it's job reliably. One month after installation in June of 2007 (I too live in Texas - temps in the high 90's), I needed to add 5 minutes to the watering time. The SCREEN WAS BLANK!! Couldn't see a darn thing. Batteries checked OK - full power. Unit still functioned - valve opened and closed correctly.
.
NO WAY TO CHANGE ANY OF THE SETTINGS !!!!
.
Design of this unit's display is obviously faulty. Save your $$$ and get something else. I should have done my homework and reviewed the on-line comments before buying this timer.
