Locking Mailbox Insert for SCF-1003, SCB-1005, SCC-1008 - LB998
Protect yourself from the fastest growing crime, Identity Theft, with our Locking Mailbox Insert. Nearly 10 million people were victims of identity theft last year. It took the victim, on average, 14-16 months and over $800 to clear their names.

This important security device goes in with four simple screws and cannot be removed without the key. The VHS-tape sized slot allows all your important mail to go into the secure interior and an angled flange keeps anyone from reaching in and pulling the mail out before you get there. Made from the same duarable materials as the mailbox itself, the Lock Box will last a lifetime. Lock Boxes are available in two models, one for our Town Square Mailbox and one for the Classic, Floral, and Hummingbird Curbside mailboxes. A Locking Insert for our horizontal residential boxes is coming soon.

Outside dimensions:

  • 17" deep x 6" high
  • 9" wide at the top
  • 8 3/4" wide at the bottom

Comments about Special Lite Locking Mailbox Insert for SCF-1003, SCB-1005, SCC-1008 - LB998:

While these mailboxes may look good at the beginning, you will find that they have some inherent draw backs. One of these drawbacks is the door and magnets that they use to secure it. The magnets are simply not strong enough to reliably secure the door. I have seen these doors fall open with a simple bump. However, a bigger problem is dealing with the lockable insert. All though the manufacturer claims that the insert meets federal postal requirements, the insert in fact does not and your local postal delivery person will likely not deliver your mail. This was the case with the homes in my neighborhood which decided to standardize our mailboxes on Special-lites and the lockable insert.
