For a shower base, the choices appear to be one of:
- Tiled-in mud base (expensive/difficult to install and mildew-prone)
- Plastic/fiberglass
- This Kohler cast-iron shower base. It's the only cast-iron shower base I've ever seen.
It is very attractive and sturdy.
Only down-sides I see are that it is very heavy to install and the side tile flanges come all the way to the front of the base, which will make it difficult to tile in flush to the wall.
