Indicator light goes off when preheated; comes on when heating.
Oval shape is great.
Haven't had it long enough to determine its durability, but certainly feels heavy and sturdy.
I have tried several electric skillets and have been unhappy with them all. Hopefully, this one will continue to be as good as first impressions.

I love the heavy feel of this skillet. It is attractive, heats evenly and unlike my old electric skillet, the heat probe fits tightly into the pan.

I've had just about every brand of electric skillet ever made in my 28 yrs. of marriage, but I've never had one by Cuisinart. This baby is solid ~ no plastic here! All metal construction with a glass lid and it is even dishwasher safe. Nice rubber feet so the unit doesn't slide around.Only 2 cons: It doesn't heat evenly ~ it gets hot in the middle, but not at the sides. But that has been the case with every electric skillet I've ever had. Also, another review I've read stated that the metal handles get hot. To remedy that, I purchased the silicon rubber handle grips [...]. Other than these 2 gripes, I'm definitely pleased with this electric skillet [...]

I love the even cooking with this skillet. It is not a light weight skillet and works to perfection. Easy clean up.I bought one for myself and two of my adult children (who love it!). It is a great value.In this day and age when things are made cheap and fall apart easy this is a rare treat!If you like fried foods with not to much oil this is a great skillet. Cooks great!
