Comments about Haier 18 in. Portable Space Saving Dishwasher:

If you are buying a 18" dishwasher, then you know that you are getting a smaller unit and expect to have some size issues. This unit does well for what it is designed to do. The top shelf comes completely out and allows for larger things to be washed using only the bottom shelf to load.

My husband and I have owned this for three years and have moved twice. We loved this dishwasher. It was perfect for our small apartment and small family. Loaded easily and cleaned well. It is hard to fit a lot of large plates or mixing bowls, but we loved it when we had our children to sanitize the bottles and nipples.

It should have a release for the water hose and a one way valve for the drain hose. The problem is that the hoses have water in them and leak on the floor when done washing.

Comments about Haier 18 in. Portable Space Saving Dishwasher:

When I got this machine, the top wouldn't fit right, the hose wasn't long enough and neither was the cord, it was hard to fit plates in the lower part because they would hit on the sprayer, the silverware basket didn't fit, and it just didn't clean the dishes. Food would still be on the plates and especially the silverware. I tried various ways to load items but nothing helped. It also had nowhere to put the cord or the hose when not in use. I ended up putting it on the curb and putting a sign on it that it wasn't worth taking. It was very cheaply made and had a very poorly thought out design. If you can afford to throw away [$], then go ahead and buy it, otherwise, look at another brand.

My husband and I are handicapped. We live in our daughter's basement apartment and we needed just a few dishes washed but it really hurt our backs to stand at the sink for even a few minutes. She bought us this great dishwasher for our 34th anniversary. It hooked up really fast and washed a great load of dishes. it's cute too and fun to use. We are so spoiled now! Thank You [...]

    Buyer Beware - Design Issues
By TexVerified Purchaser from New York on 4/11/2007

Compact, Easy To Assemble, Easy To Clean, Powerful, Simple Controls
    Cons:
    Design Issues
    Best Uses:
    Everyday Use
    Bottom Line:

Comments about Haier 18 in. Portable Space Saving Dishwasher:

Pro: Does do a nice job cleaning the dishes.
Is compact and does fit my current needs.

Con: There is no provision for the drain hose, water hose, and plug to be secured to the back of the dishwasher. One has to store them somewhere. I had to create my own storage with wire and the use of clamps at the back of the dishwasher.

The soap dispenser does not open most times during the wash cycle. The upper water dispensing arm is a little too long. If the arm happens to be at the 6 and 12 position when the dispenser is due to open, the dispenser will only open 1/2 inch and therefore not dispense the soap. I have to set my timer for five minutes and open the dishwasher to make sure that the soap can dispense. 9 out of 10 times it will get caught on the upper water dispensing arm.

I understand this is a compact dishwasher. However, the space between the lower and upper baskets is a little short by about an inch. My plates are normal size plates and I had to bend the prongs that hold the plates to the outside of the dishwasher. If I put the plates in upright and not along the edges of the basket, they are too tall and it stops the upper arm from spinning and dispensing the water to the upper basket.

I consider the above issues design problems. This dishwasher definitely needs it's design issues addressed. If these were corrected, I'd give it very high marks.

The drying element also does not work. As soon as the wash cycle is done, the dishwasher shuts off and the drying element does not come on.
