Comments about Friedrich 7800 btu 115 Compact Programmable Air Conditioner - CP08E10:

-This AC unit is great for the living room.-It's quiet, efficient, different modes: Cooling, dehumidifying, fan only (with three settings) and "Money Saver". In addition to this, one can program it so when arriving back home the place is already cooled down.-I typically like to find out where have things been assembled because I am interested on high quality overall. I missed it this time, though... here's why:1. Most of the elements are cheap plastic, so I am concerned about how long they unit will actually last.2. When preparing for installation, one is meant to remove the cooling unit from the chassis, so the later can be mounted in the window or wall:2.1 A couple of the shipping screws were not even matching and were not aligned (this became an issue when trying to put them back once installed)2.2 The unit doesn't slide out easily and the top part has a mounting piece with screws that ripped part of the insulating foam that separates the motor section from the vents section. Taking a closer look a better quality control may have had provided a different way of placing these foam strips (or something the installer would do...)2.3 There was a black screw just floating around between the fan and the vents, I didn't find where it would be fit back again...2.4 Each sill support comes with a bolt and a nut. The bolt slides very easily through the sill support, so it is the nut that ultimately holds the bolt, something I must remember and be careful about if removing the unit from the window, otherwise that bolt may fly down 12 floors!2.5 The frame curtain could be designed a bit better, since the edges would technically fit on the window sash track, however they don't. Because of the lip to attach the fram curtain to the window sash, this is not possible, so there are gaps to figure out how to insulate (no additional foam provided for this...)3. The vertical louvers to adjust the horizontal airflow did not come in the box. [...]All in all, once installed, I expect it to be a good product.
