LG LCV900B Details
LG Kompressor PetCare Plus Canister Vacuum Cleaner

For anyone waiting for LG's innovative Kompressor® system to be available in a canister-type vacuum cleaner, the wait is now over. LG's new LcV900B Kompressor® Canister PetCare Plus Vacuum Cleaner packs many of the innovative features LG has become known for into a low-profile canister model. The Kompressor® technology allows you to pick up 3 times more dirt before emptying it. The unique DualForce™ suction lets you clean a wider area and get to hard-to-reach edges, while the retractable cord makes it easy to get where you need to go. This vacuum gives you power where you need it.

Key Features

  • Nowhere to hide - DualForce™ suction uses two additional air pathways to pick up dirt from both sides, in addition to the traditional center section. This allows you to capture dust and debris over a wide surface area, and is ideal for picking up dust in hard-to-reach edges. An additional motor spins the brush bar for better cleaning performance
  • Power Nozzle - Additional cleaning power with a continually rotating brush that helps shift and collect more dirt. This feature gives you the power of an upright vacuum in easy to maneuver compact model
  • A lot of leeway - You won't have to go through the bother of plugging and unplugging the vacuum when you have the longest retractable cord around. At 21 feet, that means you have room to spare, as well as time saved
  • Cleaner, smarter and easier - Goodbye messy vacuum bags. The Kompressor® system uses a unique wiper blade within the bagless bin to keep it clean while compressing dust intake. That allows you to store up to 3 times more dust vs. non-compressor models, and means there's an easy-to-dispose-of cake of dust when you empty it
  • Down To Earth - LG packed loads of vacuum innovations into a low-profile, compact canister design. The canister design offers easy access to several tools, including a 2 in 1- crevice tool/dusting brush, and a telescopic wand that can be stored in the canister itself
  • HEPA Filter - True HEPA filtration that captures dust mites, pollens and other common household allergens
  • From a distance - If you're trying to vacuum the house, you don't want to spend precious time going back and forth adjusting settings. Controls on the handle let you adjust power and settings remotely controlled- without going back to the base

Comments about Kompressor PetCare Plus Canister Vacuum Cleaner:

I initially purchased the LCV900B model in early January, 2012. Was told it was on backorder, wasn't sent out for another month, receiving it at the end of February. Since I've had it, it's had to be sent in for repair twice, as it would simply just stop. As in, inexplicably stop working while in use, without being able to turn it back on. There's no reset button, etc., so one has no choice but to send it in. The most recent (3rd) issue involves a weakness where the hose goes into the handle. Consider it a design flaw - it is not reinforced enough, given the amount of strain on that area by virtue of how it's used. If a part is designed in such a way where it's continually bent, you would think there would be more thought into providing some type of reinforcement where the hose goes into the handle. So, not even a year and a half into having it (with a 5-6 wks taken away in repair transit for both prior repairs), the hose has come completely unattached, exposing the wiring, etc.

When it DOES work, it works really well. I have three kids and two indoor pets, coupled with wood flooring throughout the house and a few area rugs. It does a good job at compressing the hair/dust, allowing for less-frequent emptying. I also don't miss having to deal with replacing bags, like I had to do with our last Bosch vacuum. However, the Bosch worked faithfully for almost 10 years of abuse before finally starting to fall apart. Can't begin to say the same with this LG Kompressor.

Now on to LG customer service - or lack thereof. When you call about a repair, you are automatically transferred to a foreign "help" center. The agents all give you the same "canned"/scripted replies. When I first called about the handle in May, I was assured that a replacement hose/handle unit would be sent to me. June comes and goes and no part. I call on July 2nd, spoke with another agent who tells me there's no record of that call or complaint. He asked if I had a reference number? I didn't... after all, I hadn't really needed one to date, as LG had typically followed through with what they said they'd do (send a box for me to send it in with, etc.). Needless to say, I made sure to jot down the reference number after the July 2nd call. The agent, 'Chris', assured me that one would be sent to me in 5-7 business days. It's now July 16, and guess what... no part. I called this morning and asked to speak to a supervisor, and I've been on hold now for almost an hour now. Figured I'd use this time wisely by finally reviewing their product and customer service (or lack thereof). The only thing worse than having to deal with foreign help desk agents is having foreign help desk agents who offer platitudes, served up with a smarmy "Well, what are going to do about it?" tone that he had when he asked if I had a reference number for the prior call in May. Nice.

I finally got through to a Supervisor who stated that the request for my part wasn't filled until the 14th, and simply told me that my "concerns" regarding the agents being deceptive about part delivery timeframes has been "noted" on my account, whatever that means. If they would have just told me from the beginning that it could potentially take almost two weeks before the order might be processed, then I wouldn't have felt that I was being strung along, or just being told what they thought I wanted to hear. All I wanted was realistic expectations of when the part would arrive. Instead, they string you along, telling you what you want to hear. Very, very poor customer service. If you own any LG appliance/TV/etc., and you have to call customer service, be diligent about getting the agent's name and reference number for the call. It goes without saying that I won't be buying any LG products in the foreseeable future.
