This extra hardware adds functionality as well as extra "bling" to the look of any shower. If you have the room for it, I think it is a winner. The modern styling is also great for modern and contemporary designs.

Really love that this bar is customizable so that it can go from modern to traditional by just switching out the flanges and end-caps (comes with simple/modern ones & alternates are sold separately). In fact, the rest of our shower trim wasn't even Kohler, but this feature, along with the fact that the slide mechanism doesn't use a handle that needs to match, made it versatile enough that it worked well. Could see this bar fitting in with many different styles. Love the push to slide feature - so much easier than having to turn a handle. The one thing that I found a bit odd was that the hand shower mount doesn't allow for quite as much angle adjustment as I would have expected (i.e. to control the vertical angle of the showerhead itself) - pretty narrow range. Hasn't been too much of an issue in actual usage, but I'm not sure why it's limited to under 90 degrees at all. Other than that, no complaints.
