Installed on drywall as a decorative shelf. The quality is much better than what I saw available from other stores (most other mantles in this price range are made of MDF). It feels sturdy and came with all hardware necessary including the finishing nails. I lightly sanded it and stained it... the wood grain looks great. I wasn't about to shell out hundreds of dollars for a mantle; but with a little elbow grease this one looks just as good for a fraction of the price.

Mantle shelf was delivered as described. Excellent value for the price. I took my time and did the paint/sand/paint process to give it a professional finish. Looks like we purchased it finished!
