Replacement dimmer switch
Step By Step:
Step 1 – Read the instructions that come with the dimmer switch. If it seems too
complicated call an electrician.
Step 2 – Turn the breaker off at the main panel for the circuit you are working on.
Place a piece of tape over the breaker so that no one turns it on accidentally.
Step 3 – Remove the switch plate by removing the two screws.
Step 4 – Use the circuit tester to be sure the power is off at the switch.
Step 5 – Remove the old switch by unscrewing the two screws.
Step 6 – Unscrew the wires remembering which wires go to which terminal.
Step 7 – Screw the wires to the new dimmer switch in the same locations as on
the old switch.
Step 8 – Attach the new dimmer switch to the box using the two screws.
Step 9 – Remount the wall plate.
Step 10 – Turn the electrical breaker back on and test the dimmer.
