I can't really help you with what food processor is good or not good, but if you refine your search on Amazon you can find a ton of highly rated food processor's on their site. Here are all the 4 star and higher food processor's on Amazon. Hope this helps.

What are you planning on using the processor for? What were you primarily doing with the blender?

The blender was doing like triple-duty. It was great with shakes, but for chopping up drier foods like for hummus and such it couldn't get the job done.

On a budget? Black and Decker's FP1600B has high ratings on Amazon and is easy on the pocketbook. If you've got money to spare-or if you're planning on using it quite a bit-I'd go Cuisinart. It's name is practically synonymous with food processor for a reason. They make good product. I'd go for the 7-cup Pro Classic. You'll get a lot of bang for your buck with it.

I've been told Cuisinart a couple of times now. I'm looking at either the 7-cup or 11-cup Pro. I'd be spending around $150, but I'll be using it a ton so it will be worth it, in my opinion. I'll keep yall posted on what I do!

Which one did you end up getting? I'm actually looking to get one for my wife for Christmas to puree our baby's meals.

You should look into Cuisinart, they actually have the best food processors and these things last you a long time. There is a set that you can get which is a food processor and blender which will save you space as you don't need multiple base units. The blender will actually work best for you to puree the meals and the food processor can help you speed up the cutting and chopping.

I like Kitchenaid food processors, too. And, the major department stores have some good prices on them.

Go for the Ninja Master Prep Pro Blender. It gets 4 1/2 to five stars on the Internet reviews (which I've learned to trust) and is recommended by Consumer Reports. What is great is that it is a blender and a food processor, and a food chopper. It does everything.  For around $60 you get the base and 48-oz. pitcher, 40-oz. processor bowl, 16-oz. chopper bowl plus 3 storage lids & recipe book. And appliance that does double duty is a smart buy. The chopper really beats chopping onions, celery, garlic--anything really--by hand. I like making frozen fruit sorbet and it can puree four or five large cans of peaches in about 20 seconds. I use it for cheese balls or cheese spread for the holidays too.

$60 is pretty cheap for a blender/food processor. I hesitate to go for the "double-duty" appliances, however. How well does it chop, really? And is it easy to disassemble and clean?

I will say that I do trust consumer reports...

Which site was reviewing the Ninja Master? It's a little difficult to take a home appliance brand seriously when it's called "Ninja Master."

The problem with not going with the double-duty or multi-use kitchen appliances is that soon enough your countertops are filled with gadgets you use once a week or less. But if you go with the all-in-one it's either crap or it burns out quick from over-use.

Yeah, good luck with this one.

That is a problem. If you've got an older house like mine you run out of counter space PDQ. Folks in the 60s and 70s didn't reckon on microwaves and cuisanarts and home espresso makes. I like stuff theat can mount under a cabinet but they don't relly make those for food processing.

I'll admit I broke down and got the Magic Bullet. I can be a sucker for those infomercials. I must say it worked pretty well, even though it doesn't do a lot of food at once.

It chops pretty well. I will say it takes a little practice to get it just right--not too fine, because it only takes a few seconds--but it didn't take long to learn. I'm using it for cranberries and pecans this weekend.

You make cheese balls using the processor? I guess I don't know how that "process" works. Get it?

Seriously, though. how does that work?

Ended up going with the 7 cup Cuisinart because of all the good reviews. It is a little small at times, but overall I really like it!

Oddly enough, I rarely use a food processor. We used one to make turkey croquettes last year, but that was it. I normally just use a blender or small bullet type blender for smoothies and things. I wonder if I am missing out on a world of processing delights. So, I am curious...what do any of you do with your food processors? :)
