I'm going with Hardwood floors, which I've done. I think there's a little less prep work. Or that was the case with me. Plus being outdoors always throws the weather x factor in there.

I once had to rip up the carpet from the front of my store in Middletown and man what a pain that was. It was glued to the hard floor beneath and we had to cut long strips and try to slash out the glue with a box cutter. Not fun trying to pull it up.

Cambridge, Paving Stones, with ArmorTech they'll always look like newwwwwwwwwwww.

Love that song.

The paver patio sounds easier to me.

And, there are so many great ideas you can use on patios, and surrounding your pools.

Yeah sure carpet can be a pain to rip up but once that's done its kind of smooth sailing. No carpet issues with pavers!

I'm not that handy a person but I'd rather do the outdoor project because if you mess up and it takes longer its not like its that big a deal. If you're doing an indoor project and you mess up it makes it that much more stressful because you have to put up with the mess for that much longer.

After a long number of years working outseide I'm grateful for anything that lets me work with the AC on so I'll have to go with the hardwoods. With some of the newer stuff out there now it's almost as easy as putting together one of those old snap-together model kits (probably dating myself with that one).

Done both. The floors, hands down. Pavers requires excavating (digging!), preparing a base, cutting pavers, blah blah blah. Glad that project won't be repeated.

I haven't done either project but for some reason i think the patio would be easier. More wiggle room with the bricks, right? You don't have that when putting in hardwood floors.

Hardwood any day. Just about anything that involves digging will have me hiring a pro to do it. My old man had me dig a koi pond for him when I was a kid and it scarred me for life-especially since we lived in the Texas Hill Country-nothing but layer upon layer of rocks hiding in "soil". Miserable.

I haven't chimed in here in some time. I've been around both projects, and I think a bit depends on project details like room cofigurations, etc. If you have some protruding door thresholds and heating vents to work around it can add to the headache. I'm personally of the opinion that the paver project can be easier. Plus you get to work outside!! And improve curb appeal!

Done Both definatly choose Hardwood, just based on the amount of prep that goes into pavers. Normally with flooring the surface your working with is already level. Leveling is no easy job!

The hardwood floors. Especially if you buy any of the engineered hardwood products on the market. They cost a tad more up front, but you save big by being able to install them yourself. They are made in constant-width and random lengths, typically of three ply hardwood (so it is very stable and doesn't warp). The boards are usually tongue and groove and can be installed with adhesive. You just add pieces in a row and trim the last piece to fit up to the wall and start a new row.

If you go that route, buy all the boxes of wood to begin with, then open them and mix up the pieces so you don't have sections from the same lots, otherwise you'll have noticeable patterns in the subtle shade differences from box to box.

Even if you don't use engineered flooring and use real hardwood boards, it's still tongue and groove and you can rent the angle-nailer and air compressor. Easy breezy.

I love the look of hardwood floors. If I were building a house, I'd put hardwood everywhere. My relative just took the tile floors out of the kitchen and went with a wood product for the floor. I hate trying to clean the kitchen tile.

Yeah hardwood floors are so much easier to clean. Granted I don't think I would want hardwood floors throughout my entire house. Like having carpets. It's nice to be able to dig your toes into it from time to time.
