This is a very sturdy mailbox and it's ideal for areas where there are incidents of vandalism or mail stealing. Someone would have to take the whole mailbox to get at mail in this bruiser.

Comments about Architectural Mailboxes Oasis Locking Mailbox:

The first batch of mail included a large format magazine that did not dump through to the storage area. The following mail ended up standing against the rear wall. I may need to put a slanted piece in the rear to deflect the incoming mail away from the back wall. It is possible that the large magazine was the cause of the problem.

As indicated. the product proved to be everything it was represented to be. It is highly functional, durable, yet simple and unpretentious in design. It is ideal for smaller packages thereby saving unnecessary trips to the post office because such items wouldn't fit into a conventional box. It is spacious enough whereby if you are gone for several days there is no need to discontinue mail delivery. Customer service personnel were on top of their game.

This product does come assembled. It can sit on a stoop; you would need to bolt mailbox down with the following hardware:

                            5/16” x 1” (or longer) Hex Bolts (4)
                            5/16” Hex Nuts (4)
                            5/16” Large Flat Washers (8)

                        • Q:

Since most Oasis Locking mail boxes like my model 6200 are tall with the mailman's handle at the top, what should the height be from the ground to this handle? The old ground to bottom of box (41-45") does not make sense in the above case.
Asked on 10/21/2013 by NETexan from Hawkins, TX

                          1 answer

                          • A:

The 41-45 inch rule is a general guideline. You must contact your local post office before installation and find out their height requirements.

This product looks like what I am looking for. However, I want to know how easy or how difficult it will be to install this on a metal (steel?) post at the curb. I assume that I will have to dig a rather deep hole in the ground and use concrete as a filler to surround the post. Can someone tell me about this?
