Comments about American Standard Pressure Balance Rough Valve Body:

I have all Grohe fixtures in my bathroom but I wanted to have an integrated balance valve and thermostatic control. Grohe has them but they are too $$$$ and the other alternatives from Delta etc looks really bad. This American Standard one is affordable and looks decent. Not as polished as Grohe but ok. Been using 2 of these for the past 10 years with no problems whatsover. One problem I found is that when you reduce the water flow, the temperature increases so I guess you can say it doesn't work as intended but for the $$$ I will take the slight inconvenience. It does help to save water to reduce the flow when I am dozing off in the shower in the morning.

I am moving to a new house and doing 2 bathroom renovations and I am using those valves again. If you wiling to spend more $$$, I recommend getting 2 seperate valves for temperature and volume control. I did modify my shower with an external roughing valve to do this. It is not pretty but my wife hasn't complained.
